Not sure if US has this but in Europe it appears all cars need the hood open to code not just audi

Stefano, as this is a user community before you buy you should clarify with the support team on info@obdeleven.com if it will allow you to code your new car.
Having said all that from what we know SFD Is only (currently) installed on MQB Evo platform cars (Audi A3 Mk4 (2020–present, )Cupra Formentor (2020–present) SEAT León Mk4 (2020–present), Škoda Octavia Mk4 (2020–present), Volkswagen Caddy Mk4 (2020–present) and Volkswagen Golf Mk8 (2019–present).
Your car is not in that list so should be fine, the only feature is that you may have to open your bonnet to enable coding (again support should be able to confirm)

kyleuk20 give it a try (Some say you need handbrake on as well), the bonnet feature used to be audi only but i have certainly seen it on a number of VW, SKODA and SEAT Cars in 2020/1.

josecarlosc: hmm........... I very much doubt it given the litigious cuture in America and the legal prohibitions in your laws Don Then i don’t know why it is not working, on my new atlas and it works without issue on my 2018

josecarlosc I presume you are in North America, Have you tried it with the bonnet open. When you say its not working what are you trying to do, is it apps or manual coding Are you able to see the control units etc.

I have not done it with the bonnet open, i will try it now. I have tried long coding, adaptations and even the apps

I checked my NA 2020 Tiguan for the SFD under live data in 03 - Brakes because I was getting the 31 - Function Not Available in long coding, but there was no SFD to be found. Was thinking that was the possibility of why I couldn't long code Brakes to add Auto Hold, but anyway, at least on the US 2020 Tiguan no SFD under Live zabes64 quick question how many Bytes does you 03 Control unit have please.
Reason I am asking seen a Golf MK7 Today who is having similar problems with the 03 unit and he has 47 bytes vs 30 that older cars have.

I can answer that question briefly.
For contol unit 03, my MY 2020 Tiguan (Germany) also has 48 bytes (byte 00 to 47 to be exact) in the coding.

No, no (long) coding.
Only adaptation (e.g. "dynamic starting assist") without any error.

ok thanks for your help, dv52 (Australia) did hypothosize that it may be that OBD11 Cant deal with the extra long, long coding string. So if anybody out there with a 48 byte string on Control unit 03 could confirm that they were getting the same error message that would be helpful in getting OBD11 Support team to investigate the issue.

I have the same issue so dose that mean the people with 47 bits fall under sfd then ? Amd will have to waith till some time the quarter when vw ag releases it.

I don't think you have SFD, Otherwise you would not be able to code at all on many of the control units. The issue appears to be on 2020 cars fitted with the longer code long code set that you get the error 31. Trying to establish if this is simply because the specific Byte/Bits you have used are not supported (hence the 31 Error) or if its in general that OBD11 Cant support the newer setup. As fwj said he was able to make changes to the Adaption channels but have seen a few people with the problem and trying to confirm if its just they are using the wrong switches or if the 03 setup is not supported.
And just to add to this currently it is assumed that only MQB Evo Platform has SFD the older MQB Platforms at this time do not but do appear to require the bonnet open (which used to be AUDI only) and I have seen this reported on Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda vehicles.
Update
I would also contact OBD11 Support via the in app help function and let them know the issues you have been having with error messages and see if they can offer any updates.

Confirming that coding works with hood open on 2021 Audi S4. I did adaptations and long coding.. No apps.
From what I understand, SFD is being implemented when current vehicles change generations (i.e. B9 to B10)

As dv52 (Australia) said the coding you are trying to do is for a different ABS Setup, have you raised issue directly with support via in app help function or email to confirm if they support this ABS setup on your car

Just to give an update on this thread to save people having to read all the history. Firstly the original idea of SFD was to lock down control units completely and OBD11 Will (and still do) have to build an interface that allows permission to be granted to make coding on these units, That should be ready by Early 2nd Quarter 2021 if VW and OBD11 are good at IT. The reality (as at Jan 2021) is that some coding is still possible and if you read through the Leon and Golf forums you will see what is know so far. Warning this may in the future change and to be clear VW intention appears to be to put this across all platforms. Control Units that appear to be SFD Protected - To double check in each control unit go to live data and in the search bar type SFD. 03 brakes - This has the live data info but other sites say its not impacted. 09 Central Electrics - UPDATE Feedback on changes to this control unit say it is locked down. 15 Airbag - This was updated but double checked with live data. 17 Dashboard - UPDATE THERE ARE MANY CODE SNIPPETS OUT THERE THAT WORK ON THIS CONTROL UNIT19 Gateway 23 Brake Boost 4b Multifunction Module 5f Multimedia 75 telemetrics
Update to confirm coding on Control Unit 08 and A5 have proved that there is no SFD on these units.
It should be noted that OBD11 Is currently not showing all control units - bug has been reported and a/w fix for the following items
05-Acc/Start Auth D6-Light Ctrl Left 2 D7-Light Ctrl Right 2
Final point whilst this is a new car and the control units appear much larger on the new motors I have seen a lot of the old coding on the Leon MK3 only requires minor modification to work based about the labels I can see vs my old coding
Example. Auto Unlock of doors when putting car into Park (DSG Only) if your car is setup to auto lock when you drive off then this feature will auto unlock your doors when you select P on the gearbox.
Coding: 1/ Select Control Unit 09 2/ Select Adaptations 3/ Select access control for pre facelift cars and ZV Autolock for Facelift 4/ Select Autounlock NAR 5/ Change setting to Active from Inactive.
MK4 coding looks like
1/ Select Control Unit 09 2/ Select Adaptations 3/ Select ZV_Autolock: 4/ Select automatic_unlock_nar: 5/ Change setting to Active from Inactive.

I recently bought a TRoc model 2021. Is there any info if pirogramming, long coding and adaptions with OBD11 still works?. I tried with an app (needle test) and it adjusted the byte needed in the required module but the needed needle test functionality didn't occur. Is this a problem with my digital dash, sfd problem or something else?
Thx for reacting!

As far as I know the T-Roc is not impacted by SFD
If the app does not work then I would contact support directly via the in app help function.

HE TesterOnline,
Thx for reacting!
I saw on several sites (ex vagupdate.com) SFD tokens sold voor 30-40 euro. If SFD is still a problem, is this the solution to get full functionality back of the OBD11 ?

Afraid not,
You can buy a token but OBD11 has now way to pas the token details to the VW Servers.
If you read the Requirements this looks specifically for ODIS or VCP To my untrained eye
Extract of requirements from site you mentioned ODIS Service 6.0 or ODIS Engineering 12 or above softwares. VCP (vagcanpro) version 8.7.4 or above - I Know that VCP Have the facility to enter the key (as do other paid for applications) Unlock request structure (HEX) which can be get during SFD unlock request. - This is not in place on OBD11 Yet
OBD11 Will in time build an interface to the VW Servers and then we will find out how it will work, VW Did say there interface should be done by end Q1 (EG March) and then OBD11 Will have to adapt any code they have in place to make it work.
In the meantime as far as we know it only impacts MQB Evo platform cars (check out Wiki or this thread for current list of cars impacted) Secondly based on the coding I have seen Control unit 17 (dashboard) is allowing coding on SFD Protected cars
Thirdly Not all Analogue or Digital dashboards support needle sweep / OBD11 One click apps have there place but as the newer cars can change setup they are not always able to work on the newest model.
Hope that makes sense.
UPDATE
Just having read through another post I do believe there are third party apps that will allow you to unlock your car so you can fully code. Further as i said before we already know you can code on some control units without tokens and lastly I do not think your car is impacted but happy to be proved wrong.
