A friend of mine bought the hands-free module on Aliexpress and told me that it gets very hot, he is considering whether to install it ono as it can be a fire risk. Interesting! So you mean he removed the airbag, unclipped all the plastics, plugged the KLR-unit in, clipped all the plastics back, waited for a while to feel it get hot and removed it afterwards without re-installing the airbag and going for a drive? I'm waiting for it myself (instead of having to change the steering wheel) but haven't considered the fact that the unit might get hot...

I am going to receive a hands-on module outside at the beginning of October, I will test it outside the car with an arduino and an MCP2515 if it heats up I will try to put an aluminum heatsink on it and measure its temperature. Depending on what happens, I will assemble it or not.

Interesting! Let us know how it goes. I will install it when I get it and let it sit standby for a while in the garage and will check the the heat that way.
I guess if you would put a heatsink on it, it wouldn't fit inside the steering wheel. There's already extremely limited space inside the wheel and really the only usable space is where the module for the wheel touch sensor module is supposed to be (where's it's just an empty void for wheels without it).

It fits where the capacitive sensor control unit goes if you don't have a capacitive steering wheel there is the free space where the ECU goes look at the photo of my capacitive steering wheel the space occupied by the ECU

I disagree. In my opinion you need quite strong steering inputs to get rid of the warning. At least from my perspective, coming from an Mk7 Golf with active Lane Assist. I agree with your statement. Coming from Skoda Superb 2020 with ALA. Is the VW Pasat steering wheel plug and play, or is there still a need of some additional coding? I have the ALA enabled already

Hello Mency,
I'm interested, is this steering wheel travel assist capable? And does it have heated just like my original wheel?.
Thanks.

Jos

Hola Mency,
Send me a private comment if you decide to buy it with your email address to get in touch and close the sale

Hello. First of all: love this thread. Lots of skilled people helping the rest of us. I'm about to attempt this mod but experience tells me that the success rate of mods go up significantly if i know what i'm doing. I've done a small map of the different bit-changes needed, based on thread info but there is one mystery remaining.... BYTE 6. Does anyone know what the toggle of bit 3,4 in BYTE 6 correspond to function wise? How I would love it if ODB11 would put a byte index reference next to each item in the function list... I know that doing the coding suggested in this tread will most likely work, but it would be nice to know :-) Here is my BYTE mapping for reference.

Hi,
original STG A5 coding is as follows: 00 08 30 2A 15 81 08 E0 06 24 20.
Edit: Appropriate coding for the travel assist seems to be 85 10 E4 16
Another topics, I coudn´t find: Automatic Wipers: Rain sensor to be activated, instead of only fix intervals for winshield wipers.
Thank you!

Hi all,
I'm sorry about what might be a redundant question, but I've read all nine pages and I'm terribly confused.
Is this just for version 2.4, or does the same code work for 3+?
I found the 3G0959542 module for sale in quite a few places, has anyone tried to fit this to their existing steering wheel? Seems like a better idea than the overheating hands free modules mentioned above.

I thought about trying to retrofit that module as well but gave up when I couldn't find it separately. I have the aliexpress hands free module and its been working perfectly ever since my post after installing it. Requires a bit of fiddling, but 100% worth it.

I have had the hands-free module installed for 3 months, it heats up but not much, so it is working without problems. False alarm about the temperature of the module, it works perfectly. I have version 3.2 of the software

Thank you. How do I code 3.2 - same as 2.4? That is, just input the long string from this post: Ok, i've just codded that a few minutes ago STG A5 TA mit VZE 00 08 30 2A 15 01 10 E4 16 24 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Code is accepted Travel assist button on the steering wheel is now highligted and you can click on it I'm going to drive the car in 3 hours... so I could giving you a feedback

You should only modify bytes 6, 7 and 8. Keep in mind that the first byte is 0 ( 10 E4 16 ) this configuration is if capacitive steering wheel not hand module out for an outside hand module to work you must also touch STG13

I activated Travel assist on my ID.3 Pro 2021 with 3.2 software. I changed byte 7 from F0 to F4 (it was F0 and not E0 because I had also changed lane assist setting to memory) and byte 8 from 06 to 16.

One error remained still though ("additional installations detected" ). Have to look into that later. I found in another thread that the following adaptation in gateway might be related. In my car it says "subsystem does not respond" because I don't have the touch control module.

Has anyone been able to remove the errors that stain the A5 logs once the capacitive steering wheel has been installed? I don't know where I read that they could be removed with ODIS. I found in another thread that the above adaptation in gateway might be related. In my car it says "subsystem does not respond" because I don't have the touch control module.

I have an ID.4 without factory travel assist. Travel assist already worked for me on 3.0, but the configuration was reset when I updated to 3.2. I have a heated steering wheel, but it needs to be moved every 15 seconds, so I will buy a new one (capacitive). Would this one be suitable (found on ebay) 10A 419 089 R YPG, or must be only 10A 419 089 N YPG.

R is non-capacitive without the ECU needed.

Does anyone know if module in steering wheel 3G0.959.542.A is compatible with module 3G0.959.542.B ? What is the difference between A and B variance? Friend of mine got steering wheel with part number 10A419089AJ and has the 3G0.959.542.B module inside.

I have an Id.3 pro 58kw, October 2021, without ACC. I have lane assist and front assist, a heated leather steering wheel and VZE = Verkehrszeichenerkennung (traffic sign recognition). I have version 3.2 software. My car have 8T8 radar sensor (only Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzer) so this means that ACC isn't available. I would need 8T9 option among equipment (for ACC). I believe that there are a lot of forum members who have the same situation and would like to have ACC or even TA. So my question is (if anyone already tried that): -changing radar behind the front bumper to this one 1EA907572D (or H, G?) and I hope that it is possible to calibrate with ODBeleven pro-ultimate; -With odbeleven I would enable (I already this that and it did not work and after that I discovered that radar isn't the right one) ACC + TA -I would use the existing steering wheel and I would buy a Hands of module, like this one and I think it should work. So no need to change the Steering wheel to capacitive or move it every 15 sec. Did anyone manage to be successful at doing this?

Can someone confirm the part required to replace the need for the capacitive wheel, am guessing i don't need the KLR module and it's just the hands off module with 3 wires thats on aliexpress and plugs in to the KLR instead of the capacitive wheel plug?

Hello,
Thanks for the many helpful posts on the topic of Travel Assist. Basically, the coding on ID.4 SW 3.2 worked. However, I miss the short-term view of the two lanes in the real 3D space in front of my car on the road. Does this require additional coding?
The indication that Travel Assist is taking over the steering is displayed in 3 different ways:
1. Small display on the steering wheel. A graphic of the road lane can be seen here. The side boundaries of the track turn green.
2. HUD - narrow display strip that floats above the hood. A graphic of the road lane can also be seen here. The page boundaries also turn green.
3. HUD - in the real 3D space on the road, two lanes are drawn on the road a few meters in front of the vehicle for about 2 seconds.
This third variant of the display is missing after coding. Does this also have to be coded elsewhere?
All other displays in 3D space, such as the orange lane correction and the blue navigation arrows, are clearly visible. Does anyone have the same equipment and the same problem?

This Forum has helped me a lot and I want to share my experience. I have a VW ID.3 Pro Performance 2021 Model (58kWh 150kW). Also my car came equipped from factory with: Heatpump, IQ Light, ACC Radar and single zone climate. What I wanted but didn't have: Travel Assist, deactivating peep sound when putting into R (Reverse) and disabling welcome screen (where you always have to press "ok"). Also I bought the car used and always had Software ID 3.2 and I am on iOS (iPhone) so that App may be different for Android users. Travel Assist:Info: pls do several screenshots of your default long code before making any changes. I didn't and that was really dumb, but likely this new code with Travel Assist worked. But if it doesn't for you than with your old code you can always go back. Also if you don't have ACC than this doesn't work. I had to change 2 Control Units: "Adaptive Cruise Control" Control Unit ID 13 and "Driver Assistance" Control Unit ID A5. A13: In OBDeleven app first connect to your car than go to --> "Garage" --> click on your car --> scroll down to "Control Units" --> Scroll down to number 13 "Adaptive Cruise Control" First I'd advice to clear all the Errors/Faults if you have them. Press "Faults" --> and clear all codes Go back and press on "Long coding" --> go to the third tab with the symbol "01010110" --> press the edit pencil button --> copy your code and screenshot it if you haven't already --> delete all of it and paste my code: Long Code A13 for Travel Assist: 06 03 10 F3 40 71 40 45 12 47 40 08 00 00 40 C5 AF 40 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 press done and swipe to code. If it errors out than my code may not be compatible with your car. If it does, it may show in the beginning some error codes. Don't worry, clear all the Faults and if nesecarry do a "Reset", like soft reset or "Key Off On Reset". Also lock and unlock car may help. If it still shows errors that may just because we still have to change Control Unit ID A5 "Driver Assistance". Long Code A5 for Travel Assist: 00 08 30 6E 7F 93 10 E4 16 24 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 again clear all faults before and after the change and always copy your default long code before changing anything. If error messages still exist, try some Reset modes or go out of the car and lock it and unlock it again and clear all Faults. If it still shows errors on the Dashboard, I would advice you to use other codes here on this Forum or go back to your default one, don't forget to change both A5 and A13. Hurray! if it works for you, but you will soon realize that Travel Assist works but all 10s it tells you to move the steering wheel. That's bc like me you don't have a capacitive Steering wheel. You can buy this chip from Aliexpress, but oh boy it will be hard to install it. See other posts on this forum for installation. If you don't think you can do it than don't. But if you have some experience than sure do it. I personally had no experience on working on cars, but I was able to do it alone after 2 days. Hardest part is to feel the spring to remove the centre part (Honk/Airbag). btw don't forget to remove fuse of the Honk otherwise it will be a loud party in your Garage. Anyway here is the Chip I used and has worked perfectly for 4 Months without problems, it's just plug and play. Yes it's Aliexpress, yes it's Chinesem yes it takes about 2 weeks to arrive, yes it's kinda shady. First and also last time I used this website. Good Luck. Name on Aliexpress: "Module mains libres permanent, KLR pour ID3, ID4, ID5, ID6, lien personnalisé" Link: fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005005886141093.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.66925e5bufL7Qz&gatewayAdapt=glo2fra If it worked hurray! Now you can use Travel Assist, Hands free. But if it doesn't: go to A13 and or A05 and go to long coding and check if "Klr" is set to "coded" (Klr stands for Kapazitives Lenkrad btw) but it should be because that's the code. If it still doesn't go to A13 and or A05 and set "capacitve Steering wheel" to "coded" or "installed". Deactivating peep sound when putting into R (Reverse):
1. navigate to control unit 76 2. select 'adaptation' 3. select 'park assist activation tone' 4. select 'off' 5. press and hold to apply changes Disabling welcome screen (where you always have to press "ok"):
Info: This will break some features! Apps that will break: "Store", "ID. Software", "Information", "Games" and "We charge" as well as "User". Personally I don't care, since I only use Carplay/Android Auto and rarely used these functions anyway. Btw EV rout planning will still works and charging stations will be added automatically in the Nav system. Also App still works, both location data and start clima via App. But I don't know if Car2x and Plug and charge still work. I never used both of these systems. Also after applying the change that user screen came up again so I cleared the Faults and did a "Key Off on reset" and the User welcome sreen never came up again. 1. go to control unit 8125 "Application server entertainment" 2. go to "Adaptation" 3. search "Function configuration pso" 4. I had to put "Iaa function new" to be deactivated. It also was the only one of the 3 which was set to activated Thank you to all the people on this Forum for making my experience with my VW ID.3 a better one and I hope I was able to help someone else too Btw here are even more things that you can easily change on your car if you wish: Link: forum.obdeleven.com/thread/17715/obdeleven-coding-list-possibly-enyaq
