Hi Guys,
i have tried all the instruction to my Audi A6 2020 but it seems its not working for me. The software version is P2711. The car originally didn’t come with CarPlay activate. I have to activate it myself and pay extra fees. Now its working fine with the wired connection. But no wireless connection available although when i’m in the car i can see on my phone there is a wireless connection but i can’t access from the car and does’t have an icon on the screen so i can get the password. I’m using the car in Egypt now which i don’t know if this is the issue or not.
Can you please help me ?

I got a 2021 a4 with b&o sound. Carplay and android auto works with the cable.
Tried to enable the wireless feature, first by using vcds. Changed the relevant setting in 75 and the car started transmitting 5ghz wifi. Could change 5f as vcds would accept the access code. Order OBD11. While waiting for OBD11 the car was serviced and the mmi got upgraded to version 3281. Now,even with OBD11, I can get it to transmit 5ghz... Made all the same changes like before both is 75 and 5f...

You were able to get this working on a 2020? I just purchased a 2021 Q3, bought the OBDEleven Pro and when I try to save the vehicle configuration adaptations it gives me an error, "Function not available" when I try to save the changes.
I was assuming that this might have to do with VAG SFD protection on their newer cars from 2020 upwards. How did you get the changes saved? Thoughts?

proteus, did you open your bonnet? New VAG cars have integrated firewall, it can be temporarily disabled by opening bonnet and activated handbrake

I can't find "Vehicle Configuration" at Adaptation in 5F. (Information Control Unit). How can I find this option? I activated wires carplay before wireless coding. My car is 2021 A6 C8.

Non-USA vehicles have Wireless CarPlay disabled, and this had really been bugging me, so I fixed it !! To enable Wireless CarPlay, follow these instructions. For info, I've got the Sound & Comfort pack, but I think the MMI's are the same across all vehicles. Note: Appears to require MMI Software Version: MH2p_ER_AUG35_P2470 or higher.
If you don't already have CarPlay working via USB, this coding will not enable CarPlay.
CarPlay requires activation first.
This coding is for activation of Wireless CarPlay only.
CarPlay Wireless ActivationFirst - unpair/delete any Apple devices from CarPlay and Bluetooth (including removing the car if already paired from the Apple device itself - setting/general/CarPlay).Module : 5F. (Information Control Unit) Adaptation Vehicle Configuration MirrorLink = On WiFi_Client_HMI = On Apple_DIO_Wireless = On wlan_5ghz_switch = Activated Apple_DIO = On Reboot the MMI (not sure how you do that!), or lock the car, and give it an hour or two - that's what I did. Do not plug your Apple device into USB !! Make sure the WIFI hot-spot is turned on in the MMI settings. Pair your Apple device with Bluetooth - it should now ask if you want to enable CarPlay. If it doesn’t, delete the pairing, and connect to the car’s wifi first from the Apple device, and try pairing via Bluetooth again. Mine worked fine first time, and has worked successfully each and every time I’ve entered the car. There's some additional settings for CarPlay under nhtsa_properties, I've not touched any of them, as I have no idea what effect they have. I have a feeling this might also work for the new A8 as well (MLB-2/MLBevo platform). Hello I have an Audi Q8 2020 model which does not have wireless apple carplay enabled. I did all the steps mentioned in the message, the car now connects to wireless carplay but does not show the apple screen. I do not see wifi hotspot in the connection screen. It only has bluetooth connection. Is there any other setting to enable wifi in the car. |

hello
after making some changes now i see Audi_MMI_6110 in the available wifi networks in my phone. How do i get the password for this connection. In the connection settings in Audi MMI i can only see Bluetooth and no wifi

Did CarPlay ever work with USB? If it didn't, then I don't think it'll ever work.
(I'll take a read of your log to see if anything stands out). - Nothing stands out unfortunately.
Also, worth checking:
(On page 5 of this thread) : You might not have this module in your vehicle, so mileage may vary - worth a check though.

Yes Apple CarPlay is supported and works with USB
I don’t see the control unit 75 Telematics via OBDeleven.
Although my Q8 has audiconnect and transmits data to my audiconnect app in the phone

Hello now i use ios instead of android, its work perfectly did some one now how can i activate carplay? i have activate wifi on long coding byte 24 wlan module = active On adapation i active wifi client hmi, wlan 5ghz switch, wifi client hmi finaly i have icone with wifi but i dont have how i setup name of hotspot and password   I have also activate mirrorlink, smartphone interface for rhmi, google GAL, APPLE DIO, Remote HMI, google GAL Wireless, Apple DIO WIRELESS, When I connect my phone by Bluetooth it recognizes that the car is equipped with carplay and it asks me to connect it by cable or by wifi I can't connect to the car's wifi because I don't have the password my next task is to enable Phone apps menu item and wifi password. HELP plz!!  Hello Finally you activate the CarPlay by wifi ? You did by iOS ? Thank you |

Any clue on the Gen2 2021 Q3? I'm on MMI software Ms2p US AUG33 P2632D, and when I go into OBDeleven, not seeing ANY of the referenced adaptations in MMI 5F? Closest I can find is the WLAN module in long coding (set to not activated), which obviously might be a sign I don't have the WLAN side of things, but seems odd every other model (not just A7) would have the 5GHz radio but not this? Edit: update, didn't realize the "vehicle configuration" section was another sub menu in adaptations. I was able to update all the coding EXCEPT for enabling Apple_DIO_WIRELESS. Any time I added that change I got the following error "(31) Function not available", same with Google wireless coding. All other changes went through fine (5Ghz, etc)....

Carbo. same thing with my car. I have 2021 Q3 with wired carplay. USA model. I cannot activate Apple_DIO_WIRELESS. Any time I added that change I got the following error "(31) Function not available". Not sure what i am doing wrong.

For MIB3 try this:
1. Unit 5F - Adaptation
1. WLAN setting - 5_ghz_wlan - set OFF instead ON (software error)
2. WLAN setting - 5_ghz_visibility - set INVISIBLE instead VISIBLE (softwear error)
3. Smartphone configuration - Apple_car_play_wireless - set ON.
4. Function_configuration_connectivity - Mirror_ link set ON.
5. Function_configuration_connectivity - WIFI_Hotspot_5GHz set ON.
6. Function_configuration_connectivity - wifi_client_mode_5 GHz - set ON.
2. Unit 75-Adaptation
1. Emergency call module and communication unit configuration - WLAN 5GHz - set ON.
2. Smartphone configuration - CarPlay Wireless set ON.
Before coding delete all pairs “phone-car” in MMI and you mobile.
After coding restart MMI. Then check you phone. Now, you can find a new network WI-FI (Audi_MMI_last four digits of you VIN_5GHz).

i want to activate it with OBDeleven because i dont want to buy VCDS as it does same thing, and i dont want to pay 399$ for unlock it...
I mean i want to activate it and with wireless, no need cable because i have only charge USB cable, i set al options as mentionnned no error, juste carplay option is not visible

For those who can’t get it working, feel free to send me a full backup of module 5F. Just adaptation, advanced info and long coding. Use security code 20103 first. Let me know your Country, vehicle year, model, MMI software version and what sound options you have (important info!). I’ll compare to my coding and see what’s different. Hello, do you confirm even if we don't have only charge USB port and no carplay activeted first we can make it work with wifi ? how configure the 5G wifi password please ? thanks |

If you don't currently have CarPlay enabled, then none of the codings here will help you.
CarPlay is a SWaP function (Software as a product), and has to be enabled by Audi, therefore, it's going to cost $$$$.
There may be some aftermarket ways to do this, but I don't know who or where.
Bottom line - If you don't have CarPlay on your MMI, go and get it enabled by your dealer, but expect to part with a lot of money.
Once, and only once it's enabled, can you look to enable wireless CarPlay.

I would have absolutely no idea if it would work.
It depends if the car is a C8/4K model, and it must have CarPlay enabled via USB - if it doesn't have CarPlay already, then no, it won't work.
I have a feeling that you might also need the phonebox (wireless charging / USB ports) in the armrest.
And then, you need to have at least the MMI software version on the first page (or a higher version).
Without seeing the exact makeup of the car, it's 100% impossible to be sure.

Hi, I just took delivery of my 2021 Q5, Carplay only works with cable eventhough car has wifi and it is connected. As per the dealer it is a local regulation (Peru). I really would like to have it wireless. Before buyig the OBD11 I want to be relatively sure that it will work out. Any experience? I attach fotos of the software. Many thanks, Tom   |
