Lots of places, and lots of modules.
You're going to have to give things a try - 5F has a Region code, but think that's for DVD's - *but* it could be related...
Go through each adaptation one by one.....
I'll have a further hunt through later.

I've had a look, and under "Vehicle configuration", none of the correct options are set (as in the first post).... I can see you've had them enabled at some point, but they've been reverted back to disabled etc. Can you go back and check each one as per the first post? Make sure WiFi hot-spot is enabled as well. I have also seen an error relating to Wifi: 5F Multimedia

If you did, then how did you access it ? - that should not change!
If it does work when connected via USB, create a shortcut on the MMI for the CarPlay icon/app.
Otherwise, try cycling through the media inputs - worth a shot.
If that still doesn’t work, mail me a full backup of unit 5F (message me for my email).

At this point in time I receive a similair message when I connect met phone via bluetooth/WIFI or USB; message:"Carplay connected", but nothing happens on screen. Mat and I had some contact over email.
Unfortunately I was not able to display carplay with the exact same settings in F5 as Mat. My phone is recognised and asks if I would like to connect to carplay but there is no "phone apps"- icon displayed in my car.
The search continues...

Hello everyone, I'm French and bought a new Q3 F3 without the smartphone interface option last year. Given that I don't have this option, I only have one USB port for charge only. So, I was wondering if CarPlay could work if I enable it by Wifi. I did the VCDS modification, and I successfully added the "App Phone" icon, and my iPhone ask me if I want to connecte to Carplay. I'm connected both in bluetooth and 5ghz between the phone and the car. But when I go in the "App phone", it ask me to connect a Phone with USB or WIFI. But my Phone is already connected ?! So I click on "Search for device", found my phone, it connects to it, but here we go again, in the smartphone screen there is no connection, I click on "New connection", select my iPhone...but I can do this 10 times, each time my phone connects succesfully but it is not listed in the screen. My phone is well connected for music with bluetooth, but it seems to miss something to connect entirely with the car for CarPlay. I put a CSV export of 5F attached if someone could check. Thank you !      |

I've had a quick scan, and I don't think this can be enabled easily. The CarPlay app may be a SWAP function, and that can only be enabled by a dealer. So, if you don't get CarPlay showing up by plugging via a USB cable, no coding on here is going to help. Hope I'm wrong, but I think it's something you're going to have to pay for to get enabled. juju3 It may be wise to un-pair your phone completely from the Car, and also unpair the car from the phone. Reboot both devices (MMI & Phone), and try again - you are very close to having this working. |

On iPhone :
- "Forget" both of Network Wifi MMI and MMI 5GHZ on the iPhone
- In General/CarPlay settings on the iPhone, I have two Carplay lines : Audi MMI and Q3 Ju (the custom name), weird, I delete both
- In the bluetooth settings -> "Forget" Q3 Ju
On MMI :
What can I do ?
In the network settings, nothing is saved
I just do a restart of MMI by long pressing the volume button.
But no success, always the same.
And the most weird, I tried to restart the MMI 5 times, and just one time, randomly, the "Messages" application on MMI worked, and I had my messages on the MMI.
When I say Messages, it's not the iOS App on MMI, it's the Audi Messages app which display phones messages.
It never worked before !
I reset again the MMI, and bim, the messages part no longer working, without touching anything...
I see the phone connected with Bluetooth to the car, and the MMI 5GHZ is display in the wifi part, but it seems no really connected by Wifi, because when I clicked on the wifi network, it displays me a subscription to Cubic Telecom, is this normal ?

But when my iPhone ask me if I want to connect to CarPlay, when I said yes, the icon appear, and now it stick there. |

Hey Guys, Mat (apologies for jumping in on the thread) I have been using these instructions to try and activate carplay over wireless. My vehicle is a 2020 A4 with sound and lighting - MIB 3 I seem very close (phone prompts me if I want to connect over wireless and shows as a carplay device in the MMI ) but it does not connect . (works fine over USB) I think I'm missing something on the 5ghz wifi side , as a network scanner does not show 5ghz network . These are the changes I have made Contol Unit 5F Multimedia

Hi everybody,
I'm new to everything about OBD, but I've been frustrated when I've realized that my new S5 (2019) with new MMI version with touchscreen has not Carplay wireless  . So I've bought the next gen pro version of OBD Eleven, yesterday I've attached it to the car and, with my surprise, under the 5F modulo there is no "Vehicle Configuration" where to change the values posted in the first post. Going around others section in the 5F modulo I've found some voices similar to the right ones.... but it will be the right way? I've only modify two values: one releted to the activation of 5 ghz in wlan access point, the other one was located in the "Smartphone configuration" where I can see the the voice "Apple_carplay_wireless" disbled so I've enabled it. Theese modifications have just a couple of effects: after the reboot of MMI I've saw an pop up allert about reconfiguration of wifi cause the local law... and the other effect is that the MMI, when it's looking for carplay device, changed the message saying that it can not found new devices without the limitation about using exclusivelly USB connected device.
Any help will be very appreciated. I've attached the backup of 5F module.

 Also had the Turn on Wi-Fi to Use Wireless car play message . Wifi was turned on and connected , but the phone drops the wifi (on 2.4ghz) when it attempts to connect to car play (presumably to try and connect to 5ghz which isn't there) The MMI is MIB3 so supposed to have 5ghz, I suppose I may just have to wait to see if an update unlocks the 5ghz capability . Its said 2021 cars will have this (Same MMI) |

Hi,
the problem with wirless carplay is that it requires WIFI_5G which is integrated with the wireless charger (antenna).
my problem is that WIFI doesn't appear in the connection management, I only have bluetooth.

Iv'e just got this working on my 2020 A4 touchscreen (WITHOUT the wireless charging option)
Just looking to put together what options I changed , I don't think everything I changed is required .
I'm cautious to change to much back and go through the steps again incase it stops working.
The Backup feature for IOS does not seem to correctly backup the values, if anyone knows a work around
