Hey guys, could anyone of you help me out here. I require a long coding string or screenshot of a Golf mk8 that has a rear camera (6C module). If possible also the following: 19-Gateway, long coding: byte 20 5F-Multimedia, adaptations: - "parkingsystem_video_input" - "Vehicle function list BAP" -> VPS and VPS_msg_bus - "function_configuration_unit"

Yeah, had a look. I already did the coding, which should be correct but for some reason i have a black screen when i activate rear cam(it does however jump out of the emblem) and there are no faults. Car is MIB3, cam is original (added in at dealership but not coded). Coding done: 6C long coding, 5F adaptations: - function_configuration_unit input to Ethernet - VPS and VPS_MSG_BUS activated and can_fas - parkingsystem_video_input to 1392x656 19 long coding: - byte 20=RVC_Compact_Smart

Hi, I am also currently trying to code the rear view camera. However, I have the problem that I can not code anything in the device 5F. I always get "Error, please try again" even when I try to unlock the SFD protection. I have been able to successfully code device 19, but not 5F. What can be the reason for this?

I had my rear view camera retrofitted but the guide lines seem to be off... also the horizon is not straight. My car is straight in the parking space in the picture... Can I fix this with software and/or can anyone share the basis calibration settings of module 6C ? Edit: Module 5F is also not showing up...

Hi, in the coding instructions I got it says the following. Maybe this helps further in relation to 6C.
Coding Gateway 19: Byte 20 = 02 RVC Compact Smart Coding 5F Adaptation: VPS = active VPS MSG BUS = CAN_FAS with VCP: Parking System video input set to 1392x656 Function Configuration unit set RVC video input to Ethernet Coding 6C: 02030004E43000

Coding above is correct. In my case i had a special MIB3 which for some stupid reason does not support rear camera (confirmed by several dealerships and one independent expert). Not even a SW update could fix in my case.

Do you have any other info regarding what kind of MIB3 you have? I bought rvc and what ever i try i get "Error: Rear view camera". Just want to check if i wasted time, money and nerves.

Hi, have a similar Problem here. I have retrofitted an original mk8 rear view camera into a 2020 Golf. Used the following coding: Steuergerät 19 (Gateway) Codierungen: PaCo_Video_Parksystem: RVC_compact_smart Steuergerät 5F (Infotainment) Anpassungen: function_configuration_unit: RVC_video_input: ethernet Car_Function_List_BAP: VPS_0x0B_msg_bus: can_fas VPS_0x0B: activated parkingsystem_video_input: carrier_resolution: 1392x656 function_configuration_rvc: rvc_low_black_screen_trunk_open: not_active rvc_low_failsafe: not_active rvc_low_black_screen_velocity_threshold: not_active rear_view_low_rvc: not_active rvc_low_lid_close_delay_time: 0 [UN]_s rvc_low_videofailure_detection_time: 0 Camera works so far, but the Video doesn't fit to the Screen.

Hi Georgw, thanks, I already tried tis coding, but this gives me an error "steuergerät falsch codiert" Problem seems to be the 30 in the coding, this changes equipment HU from HU_VW_small to HU_VW_large wich causes the error message. 02030004E43000
I do have a Discover Pro if that helps...

My long coding for the RVC is 02038004E43000 so the coding Equipment HU is set to HU VW Large. I also have the Discovery Pro. Camera HW is 5WA980556B with sw 0314

OK, strange. My Camera HW is the Same, SW is 0344, not sure if that makes the difference.

shouldn't be a software problem... but that coding needs to be VW Large which specifies the infotainment display size... me thinks...

Short Update, tried another Camera with an older SW Version 01XX, HU was Set to VW_Large, worked perfekt. So it might realy have eben the higher SW Version.

Hi,
I just tried to calibrate my RVC on a '22 MY station wagon. The calibration starts, the screen is flickering, bit then it stops. I can read that some parameters are incorrect. I tried endless combinations. You do not find any clear indication on the internet which values to put in. The names of the parameters are cryptic, like "transversal position front axle".
I need your help. Can please someone who has a rvc originally fitted go to 6C-> Life Data -> Rear_Camera_Calibration_Parameters and send me a screen shot of all parameters? Please state if you have the limo or the station wagon.
Thanks

Hi, I retrofitted the RVC after retrofitting the Side assist. Seemed like a easy retrofit, but brought only trouble... Side assist worked flawlesly (Kufatec retrofit kit, coded with their dongle) until the camera was retrofitted (VW retrofit part, manual coding). After the retrofit, the Side assist master module (3C) randomly disconnects/connects to the gateway and infotainment. Sometimes I get a side assist warning on the dashboard, sometimes it works (detects cars in the blind spot) but doesn't allow configuration from the Assist menu (grayed out with message "Unavailable". Sometimes the whole gateway breaks down and all assist systems fail at once, but they re-activate after the car is locked and unlocked...
Does anyone have any idea why is that so? This is caused by the camera module, when it is disconnected from the car, all systems work without issue.
Both the camera and side assist are hooked to pins 6 and 7 of the gateway module. The connections are solid (soldered), so this is not an issue. Software is on release 1941 and during the retrofit, the camera sw was updated to the latest release via SVM, because of an sw mismatch error. Would you go for re-flashing the sw on the modules (gateway, side assist master, central electrics) to a newer release via SVM?

Hello, I also had a failure of all systems, look at the connector from the gateway, please plug and unplug several times, then everything worked again. greeting

Thank you for the suggestion, schneider . I already tried this without success. I tried bending the pins a little bit so they would make better contact with the female plugs on the connector. My issue seems to be related to the communication between the camera and the gateway through the FAS CAN. When the camera fuse is taken out, everything works and there are no issues. As soon as I plug the camera fuse back in, the side assist doesnt work anymore.

brkica : Hi. Just a hunch (wild guess really) but are you sure that the CAN wires on the new RVC are correctly connected. I don't have a wiring diagram for this car - but CAN wires are polarized, meaning that there is a CAN-high and CAN-low wire. If these wires are swapped, the particular CAN bus will short-out rendering inoperable other modules that are also connected to this CAN bus.
If the RVC fuse is removed (and if the CAN wires are swapped) - the short on the FAS CAN is removed and everything works - hence your observation!! Again, just a hunch - but worth checking (IMO of course)! Don

Hi dv52 (Australia) (Australia), the module is correctly wired. It works flawlesly (the camera pops out, shows an image and is overall active in the Park menu). It wouldn't probably work being wrongly wired to the canbus. The only issue is when it is powered (fuse plugged in), the Lane change module looses frequently connection with the gateway and neither the car, or my OBD11 can connect and read from it. (FAS CAN defect DTC pops sometimes when I am ocasionaly able to connect to the module). The camera still isn't calibrated (DTS no basic settings). Do you think that this might be causing issues? I would gues no, as it displays an image and works in the car. It is just bad at coexisting with the Side assist.

brkica : I could speculate some morre - but it's probably best to see a copy of the SCAN report for the car - with the RVC fuse inserted.
If you don't know how to digitize the SCAN report (once created) - do this: - Fire-up OBD11 software App - no need to connect to the car
- Select the Garage tab on the bottom left of the Home screen
- Select the car if you have multiple vehicles registered against your account
- Scroll down the vehicle screen and select History
- follow the screenshots below
- when you receive the email that you sent to yourself - attach the file to a post here

Hi dv52 (Australia) (Australia) , thank you for the commitment to help me solve the issue, it is appreciated. I created a full scan with and without the RVC fuse plugged in. I also created a full backup, to help you identify the issue, but also for the retrofitting comunity to have a reference. It is below. I noticed that the SWA module (3C) has muuuuch slower transfer speeds (during backup) when the RVC fuse is inserted, compared to when it is not. It took me at least 20 minutes to back 3C up with the RVC fuse plugged in, while other units backed up in mere minutes. So, the issue seems to be revolving about the baud rate between the GW and 3C and vice versa. I have no idea how the camera can interfere with this. Full backup.txt (804.39 KB) Fullscan_RVC_fuse_in_no_connection_to_3C.txt (12.56 KB) Fullscan_RVC_fuse_taken out_3C_works.txt (15.33 KB)

Can't find your rvc in the backup file. Is the 6C module correctly coded in the gateway?
