Hi georgw, should be. When I go to change the gateway list I have two entries for 6C. I tried all combinations (1st checkes, 2nd checked, both checked) but the car behaves the same. I also noiticed that the full backup didn't pick up 6C automatically. I don't know why. Anyways, I made a backup seperately. It is bellow. 6C_Backup.txt (16.83 KB)

dv52 (Australia)I changed it to fas_can, result is the same. The side assist sometimes works alongside the camera, mosltly not. georgw, added both entries to the GW coding list, nothing changed... I got the dealer instructions for retrofitting yesterday, they reccomend updating modules 5F, 76 and 19 to latest sw before retrofit. I will try to do that and see if the issues resiolve. There is also a GFS guided function with ODIS which I can try out. For all others, here are dealer retrofit instructions. Hope it helps someone with the retrofit. Hello brkica, Maybe a bit off-topic, I've read on previous page, in this thread, that you've successfully retrofitted the Side Assist on your car. I'm interested too. Can you please share the manual of instructions? What kit, components did you use? Would you be kind to do a short/quick DYI tutorial? Really appreciate! Cheers

Thanks for sharing the document. After reading it I deeply regret having bought a cheaper version of the set with camera and wiring set. Installation is much easier using the genuine VW set. Would have saved me a lot fiddling work for connecting it to the gateway ...

Hi djmartzian , I ordered the Kufatec kit, 45140-6. The kit comes with everything you need (sensors, holders, mirror caps, lamps and wiring harness). Installation is very easy but tricky as it is not easy to routhe the wires. This will take the most of your tiume. With the kit you get like 40 pages long instructions with pictures, well written. Unfortunatelly those I can't disclose because Kufatec has means to prevent the unncontrolled release of their documents... As for the installation: a lot of interior trimming (all on left side along the vehicle including door cards and luggage compartment trimming) and mirrors will need to come off together with the rear bumper. Make sure you have a high quality trim removal tool, especially for removal of the mirror glass. If you remove it the first time the latches are extremely tight and you can break the glass easily (ask me how I know xD). Electrical connections are straightforward (2 connections to the GW FAS-CAN BUS, one to the fuse box and 3 per warning lamp), but it is tricky to route the cables into the mirrors and for proper cabling you will need to de-rivet speakers in the doors. Please take care to wire the door connections properly, otherwise you could rip everything the first time you lower your window... For the rear side, make sure you never wire the cables so that they go in front of the sensors. As for coding, you get a handy-dandy dongle that takes all the fun of it and does it automatically, even though the coding is very easy and already disclosed on the forum. You will definitely need GEKO and ODIS as the sensors come component protected and only a online ODIS instance can be used to remove it. You also need 5F, 19 and 9 SFD unlocked. The plus is that the sensors are properly parametrized and calibrated by kufatec and don't need recalibration. As soon as you remove component protection, they work flawlwsly with no errors anywhere in the system. If you don't have an online ODIS connnection, you can buy 1 hour sessions online and do it yourself if you have a VAS device (just google it)... Don't ask the dealer to do it, they won't... The kit is not cheap (850 EUR) but I would reccomend going with it. The sold equipment is genuine VW (Hella sensors, VAG holders, lamps etc) and the harness is extremely well made (pin assignation written on individual cables) and the added plus is the coding dongle. The main part of the price are the sensors which you anyways need to buy new from the dealer. Please do not buy used sensors pulled from cars, because component protection from those cannot be removed by any known means (re-flash, renewal of the datasets...) and you will be scammed by anyone who tries to upsell you these for cheaper. Once the "Volksburg mothership" links the sensor serial number with a particular VIN in their database using the online ODIS connection, this link is permanent and the sensors with this serial number cannot be re-activated in another car. When I was looking for cheaper alternatives, I considered the chinese retrofit kits (with chinese sensors) but decided against them. For a sensor you will trust your blind spot monitoring, I wouldn't go with a no-name knockoff. Addidionally people reported weird errors with them (unability to code, or calibrate, etc...) Was a no-go for me, even though it looked tempting. Additional note, forgot it earlier: Kufatec allows 10% discount if you opt for the "no support" option, but then don't ask them for assistance in that case. Just ask their support for it. So, that is more or less it. Hope it helps. If you decide to go with the retrofit, feel free to contact me with a DM.

For everyone following this thread... The factory supplied original retrofit RVC camera cable is junk. They put it together by joining several types of cables to keep the cost down instead using high quality shielded cable in one piece. In my case, interference to the CAN cables at the joints caused gateway panics, random resets of assist systems and unability to use side assist when the RVC was wired in. I ripped the original cable and made my own harness from flexible CAT7 cable and now everything is functional. Keep this in mind if you decide to purchase the OEM camera retrofit kit from VW. Might just be that my cable is faulty, but looking how poorly it was put together, it might be widespread.

Coding above is correct. In my case i had a special MIB3 which for some stupid reason does not support rear camera (confirmed by several dealerships and one independent expert). Not even a SW update could fix in my case. Which unit do you mean exactly? Because i spent a whole day trying to figure out why a retrofitted camera is not working. Is it MEN3 unit?
