Hi all, new here but not new to OBDeleven. Even so I don't have the expertise to deal with this odd steering problem on my 2018 Golf R. The car acts as if there's no power steering, and worse than that, fights me when I turn. No dash lights on, no active faults.
Long story short I hit a pothole hard enough to bend a rim. After it happened, I heard a loud beep, saw a single red steering wheel light in the dash, and found I had no power steering. I immediately thought oh no, mechanical damage, but...
I pulled over, turned the car off, turned it back on and everything was fine. Drove home with no problems. Perfectly normal. Phew.
A few days later (including after some regular driving), I unlock the car and hear a rhythmic pulsing sound. I get in and see the steering wheel vibrating. I start the car, back out, and once again no power steering, but it's worse. Turning the wheel it's heavy, but when I turn it---and only when I turn it, not at a resting state---it's also vibrating like it's a bad racing game. No obvious faults...no dash lights, no reports of malfunctions.
I tried one suggestion of undoing and redoing negative battery cable, then clearing codes, which did fix the problem, but left a bunch of systems inactive. So I then did the calibration process described here. Within a short distance everything cleared, but the steering problem immediately returned.
I found a couple other suggestions like this one, but for fear of making things worse I didn't try them.
Most recent relevant logs below...only included these because there are zero active faults and every other one is a "databus implausible" or "databus error" kind of thing. But if anything else would be useful let me know.
