Hi, do you know the steps to do so on a 2021 VW TIGUAN ALLSPACE (pre-facelift)? I have MIB3 but no GPS on it. I managed to activate wifi, but it wont connect and I can´t see the ssid with my phone. Thank you!

Hi everyone!
I took delivery of my MY2021 B9.5 A4 Avant last June and, although I love it, like many others I was disappointed that it did not come with wireless carplay. I followed the instructions on here and it worked! Mostly...
After a cold start (i.e. after all the controls units have switched off), my phone initially connects and will display CarPlay (wirelessly) but after about 30 seconds it disconnects. Then it will connect again about 30 seconds later. Then disconnect again 30 seconds later. This happens two or three times in total. And then it will connect one last time and never drop out again.
To be clear: after the initial attempts, it will successfully connect wirelessly and never drop out again.
This behaviour happens if I let my phone connect automatically, or if I manually pair via the bluetooth settings on my device. I've tried unpairing and repairing, I've tried doing a factory reset. I've seen suggestions to just pair to the MMI's bluetooth instead of the wifi and vice versa. I've tried pairing via usb first and then enabling wireless carplay. I've uninstalled myAudi on my phone just in case that was intereferring. The behaviour happens on all iPhones (my old phone, my new phone, my mates' phones etc.). One interesting thing I've noticed is that the for some people, after doing the mod, the prompt on the MMI changed from "Connect via a cable" to "Connect to WiFi or via a cable"; this has not happened for me. I haven't found anyone else experiencing these issues after enabling wireless carplay which leads me to think I did something wrong. I stupidly didn't backup obd before I did this so I can't even start from scratch.
tl;dr: I enabled wireless CarPlay in my b9.5, but ****ed up somewhere along the way and now it drops the initial connection from a cold start.
Anyone got any ideas? I can take some photos/videos if needed. Thanks!

Hi, mine is doing exactly the same as yours above. I have the 2020 a4. Connects, then disconnects, then re connects again, sometimes again but usually fine after a few minutes. However if I disable the ‘allow data connection via WiFi’ in the WiFi settings it works flawlessly. But, a message keeps popping up asking me to activate data connection which is a pain, not sure if anyone had any ideas how to remove this? Thanks.

Hello everyone..
I came across this thread when trying to activate wireless CarPlay on my A4 Avant MY2020 B9.
I used the settings given by scoobdriver (thanks very much for your efforts by the way!) and it worked first time without any problems, very stable once connected.
The only issue I seem to have is the connect/disconnect/connect behaviour when I first start the MMI. It doesn't always do this but when it does it only disconnects once.
Did anyone find a solution to this or why it might be happening?
I thought I followed all the steps listed by scoobdriver correcly but maybe I messed up somewhere.
As others have said, if I uncheck the 'Allow data connection via WiFi' option it works perfectly but that pop up notification asking to activate the data connecion is a real pain.
Anyone found a way to stop the mesage from popping up maybe?

You can activate Apple car play with FunctionOnDemand in the Audì app.
approx 500€ for lifetime function

Are you shure that your car don’t have phoneapp icon on tre mib3 screen….if you have a new new car I think now it’s always installed

I bought the car in Germany, on the MMI I have the phone icon.
Also when I connect a Android through Bluetooth to the MMI, a notification on my phone screen stays on with "Wireless android auto is available, continue set up on your car display" but on the MMI screen, nothing...

I signed up just so I could say thank you to everyone on this thread. It took some fiddling but I have it working now. Took a few try’s and I think the most crucial step was making all the changes with the OBD11 then going for a beer whilst the car sorted itself out.
I couldn’t be happier. Don’t know how stable it is yet, but time will tell.

Big thx to scoobdriver. Your setup works on my B9 MY2020! But one question? When I leave the car now, a message pops up, that my phone is still in the car, even if it is in my pocket. Is this the normal behaviour, also for 2021 models with carplay wireless? I know that I can generally switch off this message, but my desired behaviour would be: -phone in phonebox -> message pops up -phone connected via cable -> message pops up -phone wireless connected -> no message Is this possible? Can anybody verify that? I’m having this same issue since activation on my 2020 S5. Has anyone had this issue and found a workaround? |

After some research, the App doesnt change the settings under (75) telematics und (5F) Multimedia the seetings are changed, scoobdriver mentioned here to change these to get it working. Another thing is that i'm unlucky and have MMI Version 3174, my friendly audi dealer, wouldnt update the car if there are no failures... iPete in this thread got 3182 and it is working, but as i see in emremutlu's post he is on 3801... regards Oliver |

I bought OBD eleven PRO and the PRO subscription. I then realized that it didnt do the trick to "Long code" to get Airplay.
So i bought the Ultimate subscription and tried to do it thru an app in OBDeleven. Still didnt work, i have followed all the instructions that exist on the internet and in this forum.
I then gave up and bought it from Audi Functions on demand for 8 Euro/month and it works like a charm.
U can imagine i feel like a sucker!
Do i have to keep on buying it on FOB or does a hack exist?

Wireless CarPlay working on my 2020 Audi A4 on Version: 3243
Note: After making the changes in 75 (Telematics) it did NOT automatically work. It took roughly one hour for the changes to take effect.

I followed all the directions scoobdriver laid out but every time I try to connect to CarPlay via Bluetooth it just says Bluetooth connection could not be established. Hi boldtitan, did you ever manage to resolve this problem as I have exactly the same issue on my 2019 A4 Avant, MMI with touchscreen (software version 3281)? Any tips would be much appreciated. |

@han1d (seen you have the same car and year as myself) OK , after a few week of trying different things , here's what works on my 2020 A4 , use at your own risk :S This is what I did ,( with weeks in between ). Initially made adaptations to module 5F - (Having found out what I have today , I'm not even sure these need to be made , these were things quoted for previous models of Audi (Non MIB3 ) A3 / A7 / A6 , and some of the settings in the other modules contradict values in this module, so not even sure it is doing any thing with these values ) It seems the key for this is the adaptation in Telematics Module 75 is the key for this (I'm speculating, but it seems the wifi / lte / bluetooth radio settings have mooed to this module for MIB3) I think this should work with A4/S4 , A5/S5 MIB3 models. Before doing this delete the phone pairing in bluetooth and CarPlay in Audi interface (long hold and delete ) , I also removed the car from my phone bluetooth (again maybe not necessary) Make sure your bonnet / Hood is up/open for changes to take effect . Apologies if this has been answered but I can’t seem to find it. I’ve used the wireless CarPlay app using the credits. I’ve managed to get the connection on “phone apps” but when i choose car play connection to my phone it just says “cannot establish Bluetooth connection” although the phone is already connected through normal Bluetooth. Any ideas how to get it up? I’ve just payed for the credits version so buying a pro sub is out of the question at the moment.

It appears the one-click app (100 credits) dosn't make all of the required changes for an A4 Saloon (2020), i've also applied the "step 2" one-click app and that appears to enable the following:
Adaptation
Control unit: 75 Telematics
Name: Smartphone configuration
Values:
Apple CarPlay Wireless:
Old value: Off
New value: On
Mileage: 1965 km

However the following remains disabled:

I understand both need to be enabled for wireless carplay to work. Can someone please fix the "step 2" wireless carplay one-click app to enable the WLAN GHz value? i do not have the pro subscription but have paid for the one-click app (100 credits) which hasn't worked.

I have a 2018 S5 Sportback (US) and I don't think wireless carplay is possible. I've tried the following: - Upgraded firmware from 4213 to 5087
- Enabled the following 5F settings:
- Apple_DIO_Wireless
- wlan_5ghz_switch
- MirrorLink
- WiFi_Client_HMI
Some of the settings from this post were already on, like Apple_DIO. Additionally, some of the settings from this post are missing, namely things like: I can't enable the wifi hotspot in the MMI settings (its disabled) and when I try to connect to the Audi's wifi network, it redirects me to Audi Connect, which seems wrong. I think I'm going to have to break down and buy this. |
