How can I shut off tpms?
|
|
|
Post by dv52 (Australia) on Aug 12, 2019 23:19:47 GMT
^^^ TPMS is normally enabled in the control module @ address hex03 by the software switches on Byte 27, Bit 5 for RoW (Rest of the World) cars and on Bits 4,5 and 6 for EU+ cars. Also, the software switch on Byte 28, Bit 7 enables the setting-of TPMS through the CAN bus. This allows TPMS to be set as a MENU item in infotainment system instead of a hard button. I'm not sure which facility you have. First check the code-string on your hex03 module for alignment with the settings above. QNLY proceed with changes if you are certain that the settings in you control module comply with my understanding Don

I just checked and I don't even have hex03... Can you still help?
FYI, in Brakes module, I see "Tire pressure monitoring display" and "Tire pressure monitoring display, tire selection". Both are set at 2. But I can not change them since I don't know the password. It is not the same as the Brakes module security access code.

I just checked and I don't even have hex03... Can you still help? nic: what - you have a mk7 that doesn't have a hex03 module? That's astonishing!!! How do you stop the car? . Just kidding, the brake module on MQB platform vehicles lives @ address hex03 on the CAN network FYI, in Brakes module, I see "Tire pressure monitoring display" and "Tire pressure monitoring display, tire selection". Both are set at 2. But I can not change them since I don't know the password. It is not the same as the Brakes module security access code. Why not post-up the code-string on your Brake module (@ hex03) so I can see what it says - please. Don PS: there are a bunch of security codes that pertain to the Brake module - you can find my list HERE

Tryied it. Now it doesn't say I have pressure loss in one tire, it just blinks the tpms light in the cluster...
I have also tryied byte 28 but 6 and 7 off, and all other combo possible with those two. My tpms never simply turned off like I'm trying to do.
Thanks for your help everyone. Hope one of you may have my answer.

^^ here's some other TPMS stuff that you might want to experiment with:
On the hex5F module - TPMS is enabled when: >Channel "(13)-Vehicle function list BAP-tire_pressure_system_0x07"> Set value to "active" > Channel "(14)-Vehicle function list BAP-tire_pressure_system_0x07_msg_bus"> Set value to " Suspension data bus" > Channel "(56)-Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_rdk "> Set value to "active" > Channel "(58)-Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_rdk_over_threshold_high "> Set value to "active"
On the hex17 module - TPMS is enabled by : Coding> Enable Byte 4> bit 0 ("Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)")

Well... I've tried everything. It never simply "turned off" or acted like it was never installed on the car. It now says "TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM ERROR" and the designated cluster light flashes at start ups, then stays on, even though I set everything back to the default settings. Hhhhhh

Tell me how to reset please. I've tried clicking on RESET, then SOFT RESET then OK but nothing happened. I'm doing it wrong surely. I've also tried hard reset and "key off on reset"... All those in OBDeleven Chanel 17, witch is where it as a fault: Tire pressure monitoring system display incorrect coding.

Chanel 17 is now ok. Only fault remaining on regards of my TPMS is on Chanel 3. I don't get it. Everything is setup as it was from factory. I've tried to reset it with OBDeleven, but here's what it showed me... (22) Function cancelled, marginal conditions have not been met

^^ hmm............. doesn't look too bad - and the problem should be retrievable (with the caveat that I don't fully understand what's happened). As the African's say: "the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time". So let's start with what I think are the important DTC (I suspect that many of the errors in your picture (like steering assistant errors are the result of other DTCs) First - am I correct in believing that you have been tinkering with the code string on your ABS module (@ address hex03)? If so, go to the records in your history file and revert settings, or go to a precious (recent) scan report and copy-and-paste the long code into the module. Next - re calibrate the steering angle sensor in basic settings like this Steering Angle (G85) calibration procedure - MQB platform vehicles - Select Steering assistance module @ address hex44
- Select Basic settings
- Select Steering angle sensor (5th option in my screenshot below)
- Activate the procedure (It should show running when activated)
- Turn the steering wheel slowly to the right to mechanical stop and then to the left mechanical stop.
- Turn the steering wheel back to the mid position
- Wait for basic setting procedure to show finished correctly?
- Exit basic setting function and clear any DTCs
Finally, clear the errors, Re cycle the ignition and post-up a copy of the new scan. Don

^^^ hmm....... OK - so as it stands now, you have been able to remove the "incorrectly programmed" message from the Brake module - is that correct? Can you post-up a copy of your scan report? It's done like this (first clear all the error messages before running the scan) - sorry for using screen shots of the old OBD11 software :
After you select the envelope symbol in the second pic above - send yourself an email which will contain a digital copy of the scan results. Then simply copy-and-paste the content of the email here Don

^^^ Arrhhh........... that's better - much more clear!!! Obviously you will need to spend some time in the basic setting part of the ABS module. You might need to Google some of those procedures. Here's how to deal with the headlight DTC: You will need to run 2 x separate procedures in the hex55 module like this:[/div] Make sure the car is on level ground and that the suspension is settled
Procedure 1
- Select Xenon range control module @ address hex55
- Select Basic Settings
- Select Basic headlamp setting and start the procedure
- This is where you would adjust the headlights using their manual adjusting screws as referenced against a suitable aiming target - but in your case go to the next step
- Wait a period of time (suggest 3 seconds)- then stop the procedure
Procedure 2 (still in Basic settings in hex55 module)
- Select Acknowledge basic setting and start the procedure
- The reference settings from Procedure 1 above should now be "recorded" in the module
- Wait a period of time (suggest 3 seconds)- then stop the procedure
- Back-out of the module, clear any error codes and exit OBD11 software (don't forget to disconnect the OBD11 dongle)

^^^ hmm.......... Not sure that I can add much more value - I've looked at my database for more information about the many sensors in your ABS module that need basic setting calibration - but they refer to ODIS procedures. Perhaps someone else here can help
Have you done the setting angle basic setting procedure that I listed earlier? Don

|
Post by nicvail on Aug 26, 2019 12:41:39 GMT
I did. Tried many times. But it never stops by its self. I begin the procedure, turn the wheel both sides then back to center and wait.... Sometimes for 3 minutes and it still says "active" with the red STOP button at the bottom right corner of the screen. So I stop it, hit back till I'm at the home page, scan, delete errors, disconnect and turn off the car with the dongle out of the OBD2 connector. Still have the same issues after.

FYI, it’s my understanding that the MK7 doesn’t use wheel-mounted sensors for tpms; it measures tire rotation and senses a difference when the tire is low.

The TPMS is secondary for now...
