Hi all,
I bought my 2018 VW Golf MK7.5 , 1.6 TDI new last year and it came fitted with rear led lights .
I installed led H7 bulbs for the dip beams but I get error on the dash for bulb blown . Is it possible to code my car to accept the led H7 dip beam bulbs ?
Or do I need to fit resistors to the led H7 dip beam bulbs to overcome the error on the dash ?
Any help is much appreciated .

Hi wgolfmk7, thanks for the reply - the bulbs I bought supposedly gave Can-Bus free errors on 99% of cars. So I have the 1% of cars that give errors Is there a particular type of Led Can-Bus lamps you would recommend that are error free ?

^^^^ I assume that you had incandescent lamps in the headlight fittings originally. If so,first try this: - Go to the Cent. Elect module @ address hex09
- Go to Security access
- Enter 31347
- Go to Adaptation
- Change these channels:
If the above instructions don't work, return settings in the 2 x channels above to original values and try this: - Repeat steps 1-4 above
- Change these channels:
- Leuchte6ABL LC5-Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 6 >0 (1A)
Leuchte7ABL RB1-Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 7 >0 (1B)
(note: the values in brackets should be your default settings - DON'T make my suggested changes unless you have these values) If this doesn't work, return settings in the 2 x channels above to original values and tell me what error messages you received Don

Hi Don ,
thank you so much that worked perfectly no error light on dash
•Go to the Cent. Elect module @ address hex09 •Go to Security access •Enter 31347 •Go to Adaptation •Change these channels: ◦Leuchte6ABL LC5-Lasttyp 6 >5 - LED Abblendlicht (11 - Abblendlicht) Leuchte7ABL RB1-Lasttyp 7> 5 - LED Abblendlicht (11 - Abblendlicht)
Could you recommend a decent set of H7 Led bulbs as the set of H7 leds I bought are just a cheap set to try them and see how they worked .
Thanks again , Eddie

eddie: well done - I'm pleased that you have been able to fix your problem.
If you are interested to understand why the tweak worked - it's probably because the Pulse-width-modulation (PWM) frequency from the new Lasttyp setting is more suited to your LEDs. PWM is the mechanism that the control module @ address hex09 uses to operate these lamps and if you select a Lasttyp setting with "LED" in its name, the frequency is double that used to run incandescent lamps. LEDs can be very sensitive to PWM frequency
As for your question, there is lots of hype and hyperbole with different LEDs and I can't recommenced a particular lamp. However, I would start by choosing a lamp from a reputable LED manufacturer. There are a few to choose-from including CREE, Phillips, Samsung and Seoul. The next is to look at efficiency:lumens/watt and if you are a nerd (like me), efficacy which includes the visible lighting wavelengths (though finding this data can be problematic). Then think about color and what shade-of-white you want. And finally, consider physical build quality. Don

Hi Don , yes I am very interested as to why your tweak worked I like messing about with things and Led lights are pretty cool in the way they work and also their light output. The main thing for me is to have white light around 6000k from the Led .

Hi, "eddie99" A question: The headlights of your car of what kind are ...? , that is, Led ..., Xenón or Bi-Xenón (Top-Xenón) .. ?? You mean the H7 lamps of the cornering .. These ..??
A greeting.
Hi wgolfmk7,my car headlight bulbs are just halogen H7 bulbs for the dip beams and I wanted to improve the light output on the dip beams by using Led H7 bulbs.

Hi Don,
I am going to change my halogen front fog lights to Leds . Could you tell me please how to code the front fog lights for Leds .
Thank you ,
Eddie Eddie: OK - it's a little difficult to be too definitive as to what settings will work on the front fogs because LEDs vary so much in their performance.
But purely as a general approach try these steps:
1 - Do nothing if you get no error messages
2 - if DTC appears, try this
- Go to the Cent. Elect module @ address hex09
- Go to Security access
- Enter 31347
- Go to Adaptation
- Change these channels:
- Leuchte12NL LB45-Lasttyp 12 >6 - LED Lichtmodul (10 - allgemeine Scheinwerfer)
- Leuchte13NL RB5-Lasttyp 13> 6 - LED Lichtmodul (10 - allgemeine Scheinwerfer)
Again, DON'T make these changes if your default values are not as shown in brackets

Hi Don ,
I fitted the Led fog light bulbs and got the error light on the dash .I cleared the fault and made the changes you said .My car had the default values (10 - allgemeine Scheinwerfer) so its working perfect now .
I might change the high beam halogens for Leds too Don , how do I code the high beams for Leds ?
Thank you so much for your help .

Hello Don, I have one question ( probably no one do this) So I have Golf 7 2013 and I have normal lights Halogens, so I like to change that light to new light from new golf 7 facelift FULL LED 2017+. I already have that new lights ( complete front lights) I m already buy Special connector and now work only main light, so day light and blinking lights doesn’t work. It’s possible fix that with coding or? Please help me. Regards CHUPOO

^^ chupoo: hmm........ your Golf 2013 uses the module @ address hex09 to control the halogen headlight fittings. AFAIK, Golf facelift with FULL LED headlight assemblies have an entirely different set-up as factory fitted: these cars use separate LCMs (Light Control Modules) for each side of the car to operate the lamps in headlight fittings.
PLUS - the installation of a "Special connector" totally changes the assignment of Leuchte-sets in your existing hex09 module. - each manufacturer of supposedly OEM headlights uses different wiring - so it's not possible to be precise about what has happened in your car.

Sorry I'm not familiar with those lamps - and in particular I never know what manufacturer's mean by "plug-and-play". Invariably, the term as used by sellers doesn't align with buyer's understanding!!!

Hi all very newbie here. Changed headlights on mk7 gti 2013 from factory xenons to chinese aftermarket full LED headlights. All working fine except for the high beam. when activated it only stays on for 2 secs and then i get an error in the dashboard about side lights (curiously sidelights and not high beam). any ideas of how to play up with adaptation on the issue? tks

I'm not eddie99 - but maybe try this:
Leuchte25KZL HA59 - Lasttyp 25 > 43 - allgemeine LED (default = 18 - 2* 5W)
- Dimmwert AB 25 > 127 (default = 100)

Would you happen to know the code for day time running/parking light left and right and also the reverse lights ?
|
|
|
Post by dv52 (Australia) on Jun 23, 2023 22:08:00 GMT
golftdi023: Reverse lights = Leuchte28RFL LC11 and Leuchte29RFL RA64 The lamps in the headlight assemblies are more complex - it depends on the type of fittings installed and whether the central electrics module controls the headlight functions - or whether this car uses Light Control Modules (LCMs) Don

So there is no fix for the daytime running / parking light? they are just little bulbs for the side markers that's on the headlight

As I have already said - it depends if this car has LCMs. I have no idea if this is the case - I suggest that you look at your SCAN report.
If this car has LCMs, the DRLs are NOT controlled by the central electrics module. I assume that the reason for you using "/" is because the same lamp on this car is used for both DRL and Parking light
Of course, if NO LCM, then the DFLs/Parking Light can be modified

Simply look at your SCAN - scroll-down the list of control modules and you should see the left/right LCMs like those below (of course the details may differ on your car)
Don
i39 Light Control Right System description: LCM_MLBevo Software number: 8V0907399D Software version: 0014 Hardware number: 8V0907399D Hardware version: H08
