Good night guys, my EU 2016 MK7 Golf is on variable service interval (30000 km/2 years). What is the best practice to reset "oil change service" and "inspection" display without using the App? On the forum there are some different methods, so I'm not sure what is the best way to proceed: - some say istrument cluster (17) > adaptation > Channel xx > 0 - others say "esi: resetting esi > new value: reset" - others say the previous + "fix: distance covered since last mileage-dependent inspection" and "fix: distance covered since last time-dependent inspection" > new value: 0 ...
What is the best way to do this? Thanks!

Thank for helping 👍 Do you know how would you code the car from fixed service intervals to variable service intervals (QI6)? That's becasuse there's a way to reset oil change service and inspection display using the button in the istrument cluster "0.0/SET", but the drawback is that the car is automatically recoded to fixed service intervals as a result of this procedure. Thanks! 👍

Just to add to Ron's (Cupra280's) post - you need to perform the 2 x instructions in a certain sequence: do the service inspection message first, then do the service reminder interval second. As for yankarinrg's question "flexible service intervals", or as known by VW, "Extended Service Interval" (ESI) requires that the car has additional sensors and software to be able to calculate oil degregation with time and distance traveled. This calculation is done in the module that OBD11 calls Dashboard (@address hex17). Not all VW vehicles have ESI capabilities, but those that do have ESI can be identified by the PR number “ QG1“. The PR number is on the vehicle data carrier- like the one below: If your car has the PR code for ESI and it has reverted to fixed service interval, check the ESI: oil quality adaptation channel in the Dashboard module. If the setting is poor oil quality, change to good/high oil qualityDon

Thank you dv52 for the precious reply. I checked on my car's erWin report and it actually has the QG1 code (Service interval prolongation). So now, the only actual step needed to recode the car to flexible service interval is to set "ESI: oil quality" to "good/high oil quality"? Thanks 😊 Edit: i just reset both inspection and oil message using the button on the istrument cluster and recoded the car to variable interval service. Thanks so much dv52 for your skills

Edit: i just reset both inspection and oil message using the button on the instrument cluster and re-coded the car to variable interval service. Thanks so much dv52 for your skills yankarinrg: I've got bad news for you (alas) - the Dashboard control panel manages the 2 x forms of service intervals separately.
While the "service inspection message" reset is common to both forms, resetting the "service reminder intervals" is not common to both forms of intervals.
The instructions that you carried-out were perfectly OK so long as you retained the FIXed interval arrangement - but this doesn't apply to Flexible interval periods (what the Dashboard calls "Service Interval Extension")
You will need to follow the instructions below for resetting Service Interval Extension:

Don I checked both values and they were already set to "0" 🙄. In the car, under the service menu, I have for both inspection and oil change, 30000 km or 730 days, so I guess all went right?

dv52 (Australia) (Australia) Hey man, is it possible to do all of this with the FirstGen OBDeleven, or do I need the NextGen? Also, do I need credits to make the changes necessary? I have both an android and iOS phone so that issue on the FirstGen shouldnt be an issue. I dont want to spend money on something dont need since I dont think I'll be tinkering with ODB much, just the regular service interval resets. Did a service on my Skoda Octavia II, which was on Flexible/ESI intervals, using the extended life oil. Reset the service indicator using the dashboard and it has reverted to 15,000km/365 day (Fixed) interval. Thanks!

yankarinrg , glad it worked for you. Did you use the FirstGen OBDeleven or the NextGen? Also, did it need credits to make the changes? Thanks!

joshdavidr : Hi. Wow - this is an old thread!! I've written more words about this matter since this thread - maybe read my reply HERE
As for your question - it shouldn't matter which generation OBD11 dongle that is used - resetting SRI is a function in the Dashboard module, itself, it's not a OBD11 version specific facility.
That said, you will need a PRO license to do the reset manually. I'm not sure about the One-Click-App for SRI reset (I never use OCAs- they are too dangerous IMO) - I don't know how OCA deals with ESI!
