also will this reset be the same interval at which the dealer would set as I don't want to miss any service intervals thanks Tray: As for your second question, after you finished the oil service, the time and mileage registers will need to be reset to zero using the procedure in my previous post above There are two other registers that are used in determining when the next Service Reminder Interval message is seen again - as below So - what happens is that as the days elapse and the odometer increases, both of the numbers in the registers in my previous post (above) start to rise. When either of these numbers approach the numbers in the two registers in this post - the Service Reminder Interval message starts to show on the car's MFD. This happens regardless of whether you are using OBD11, or the dealer ODIS tool Don PS: If you want to change the time/distance between successive SRI messages, change the numbers that I have circled in yellow in this post

Do I need to do both steps or just the reset value?

Do I need to do both steps or just the reset value? Tray: I seemed to have confused you with too much information -my apology ! If alll you want to do is just reset the time/distance flags - which is what the Dealer's "spanner jockey" would do for an average service (and charge an outrageous amount)- use the instructions in my first response Don

Tray. Hi. Just follow my screen shots below to reset the travel and time number registers back to zero ... A few days ago i did the oil change , like i did before, but this time I changed the quality oil to good (to restore the flexible interval) ..and now the service reminder interval is allways showing when i turn on/off the ignition , doesnt matter if I change the interval back to fixed or not , still shows the reminder . I already tried different values , checked the changes between an old backup and actual settings , adaptation and longcoding parameters ...honestly I don't know what to try next to disapear with this service reminder...any suggestions? I can't confirm but it's like the SRI (service reminder interval) changed too allways on\showing and I can't change that using the OBDeleven After reset it again

- Go to the Dashboard module @ address hex17
- Go to Adaptation
- Search for "ESI"
- Select ESI: Resetting ESI
- Change to reset
- Exit OBD11 and cycle ignition key

dv52 (Australia) Already tried that too (more than once)...even disconnecting the battery Doesn't matter if im using a fixed or flexible service , still shows the next interval The dashboard is responsible for this SRI notification , right ? I don't think I can disable the SRI with obdeleven (dunno how I enable it in the first place XD) The only thing I did, after the interval reset, was changing the oil quality to good . That gave me the 30k km interval . Now it doesn't matter how I reset the values (fixed, flexible, using dashboard or via obd) , the reminder is allways showing with ignition on/off

dani: changing to "good quality" enables "ESI" and disables "FIX". My guess (hunch, really) is that there might be an inconsistency in the numbers in the related channels.
Please post-up your channel values

dv52 (Australia) You are right , the good quality enables the flexible service, on the other hand the reset using the "0.0" dashboard method, set the default fixed value interval (SIA) ,it change the quality to poor and the ESI warning to ON ..doesn't matter if I'am manually inserting the values for driven km and days or if I just leave them blank , the result is exactly the same . Dunno if the dashboard and vehicle status are reading the "SRI" from another module like central electric, can gateway or multimedia . Im currently trying to find something using a vcds and I need to check if theres any difference between the central electric backup and the current set Im out of new ideas... All Fix"; Distance Covered: 0 | Max. Distance until next: 30.000 | Max. time until next time: 365 | Reset value for next mil. dep. insp.: 365 | Fix Reset value for next mil. dep. insp.: 30000 | Time since last time dep. insp. 0 All SIE"; Min. value km-driving distance insp.: 15000 | oil quality: Good | time from insp.: 0 days | Max. value km driving distance: 730 | Distance driven from insp.: 0 | Max. value km driving distance: 30.000 WIV; Min. value of time between insp.: 365 days | Resetting ESI: No warning

Maybe you must check also the "SIA" parameters...

What mean esi ?

ESI=Extended Service Interval. It's a system that uses the car's measured values to calculate when an oil change is needed (unlike FIX which uses a set service interval in terms of time and distance traveled). However, for ESI, the car needs to have extra sensors to measure the various wear parameters of the engine oil.

And if i set to warn me, what would happen ?

Claudiu : hmm......... I'm not sure why you are asking the question because I would have thought the answer is not in dispute!! As with any option on a car, if the required equipment is not installed and the option is enabled - it won't work as designed!!!
Likely you will get an error - but even if you don't, you can't expect the calculated number for the service date/mileage to be correct (because the oil wear transducers are missing)
But if you want to try (its entirely your decision), I suggest that you first check if the car has the PR number “QG1“. The PR number is on the vehicle data carrier.
Don
PS: I wrote more about ESI HERE which I suggest that you read

dv52 (Australia) can you explain to me the whole procedure for the long reset for 30,000 km? Thanks

nicola : Hi Like this:- Follow the first 3 x screenshots in my picture on the 2nd post in this thread.
You should be looking at the 6 x adaptation channels shown when you search for the term "FIX"
Change the adaptation channels as follows:
- FIX: Distance covered since last mileage-dependent inspection > 0 km
- FIX: Max. distance until next mileage-related inspection > 30000 km
- FIX: Maximum time until next time-dependent inspection > 730 d
- FIX: Reset value for next mileage-dependent inspection > 30000 km
- FIX: Reset value for next mileage-dependent inspections > 365 d
- FIX: Time since last time-dependent inspection 0 d
If you have the "service" message showing on the dashboard - do this:
- Go to the Dashboard module @ address hex17
- Go to Adaptation
- Search for "ESI"
- Select ESI: Resetting ESI
- Change to reset
- Exit OBD11 and cycle ignition key

Don, I can't seem to clear the "Oil Change Now" message from the MFD. I first used the steps outlined in the owner's manual to reset both the oil change and inspection notice which were confirmed and cleared however the OIL Change NOW message is stuck. I went into OBD !! and used the Fix protocol but everything I pulled up was already showing zero. Is this message buried somewhere else. I looked and couldn't find anything specific to oil changes. Can you help with this? Thanks Frank

dv52 (Australia) just looking through some old paperwork and I have that to reset service warning you turn off ignition, press and hold 0.0 button, turn on ignition and it asks if you wanna reset, just press 0.0 button to reset, So not you need to go into obdeleven

Sorry to drag an old thread up... but yes you can do this (as you mentioned) on a Polo (2019 AW) too.. I'm only here because there is very little traction (as regards replies) on the OBDII Polo sub forum but plenty here for Golf users and wondered if I could determine a workflow similar to these mentioned by the wizard also known as DV52. If I find a way with the Pro Plan and not credits or pressing buttons (as above in the thread) I'll post my findings on the Polo forum too. I'd rather learn as i'm going along with this scanner.
