Hello there, I was wondering how I can enable the MIB1 to give me traffic reports and updates on the map. Is this possible, how can I code this?
I currently live in Ireland, Europe.
Hope someone can give me further insight into this, Thank you!

David: Hi.
What you refer-to as "traffic reports and updates on the map" is called "Traffic Message Channel" (TMC) in real world speak. You can find a fairly extensive dialogue on TMC HERE.
According the Wikipedia, TMC for Dublin went live in November 2010. The service was extended to provide national coverage later that year. The service is provided by TrafficNav.
So, if whoever authored the Wiki info is correct (not always a good assumption)- you have cleared the first hurdle - which is: does the country actually have a TMC service that is transmitted over FM radio (via RDS)?
Now, I know very little about Ireland (other than it's on my bucket-list) - so I'm not sure how well the TrafficNav facility can be receive in remote parts of your country (do you live in these remote parts?). That said, I might be overstating this problem - Australia has remote parts, but can any part of Ireland even be called "remote"?
Anyway, the tweak to enable TMC is to enter the correct country-code in the adaptation channel below - which is in the module that lives @ address hex5F: - Fee-based traffic information (TMC)
You can try a number of known codes that are listed in my link. Also and coincidentally, I actually have a Golf mk7 adaptation channel map from an Irish car in my MQB database - oddly, the factory value for the channel above is 3. This looks wrong, but I guess it's an easy try - so worth a shot IMO!
One final note- ain't nothing going to happen with TMC if the MIB1 in this car doesn't have SATNAV !!

Hello, we meet once again! Even though we live right opposite sides of the world! CRAZY!!
In regards to your last comment, does the car have SATNAV. I mean, I'm pretty certain it does have satnav, what exactly do you mean by satnav though?
In regards to, setting destinations etc points on the map. Yes this is available. But maybe I might be stupid once again and missing your point.
I've tried all the adjustment and unfortunately no luck!! Maybe it wasn't meant to be!

hmm......... I didn't think that "SATNAV" was peculiarly a Strine (look it up) term - but clearly I was mistaken!!
SATNAV = short for "Satellite Navigation System" = An electronic navigation system which uses space satellites as radio signal sources and position references
Finding the correct TMC fee code for a particular country is the difficult part of this tweak. My experience here in the land down-under (where women glow and men chunder), is that once the correct code is entered, it takes some time for FM radio's RDS to initially populate the TMC data into the car's SATNAV tables. So don't be too eager to reject a newly entered code!!
Of course the other way to find the correct code is to thieve it from another VW car in Ireland that has TMC operating!!
