Hello,
I am working on retrofitting the Harman Kardon audio system to my MK8 Golf.
I purchased a second-hand 5H0035456A amplifier from ebay and did some temporary wiring to see if it will work. I connected the ethernet and CAN wires up to the J794 Information Electronics Control Module behind the glovebox. Connected it to a nearby ground post and directly to the positive terminal on the battery. I did not have any speakers connected to the amplifier output as I was just trying to see if the infotainment system would recognize the amplifier.
I am using the wiring diagrams for both the base and Harman Kardon systems I purchased from erWIN to do the wiring.
Then I made the following changes in the 5F Multimedia control unit:
Long Coding
Change Most from "off" to "on"
Adaptations
Function Configuration Audio: Change Sound System from "internal" to "external most"
Vehicle Function List BAP: Change Amplifier 0x2d from "not activated" to "activated", change Amplifier 0x2d msg bus from "not activated" to "databus infotainment"
Function Configuration Sound: Change Brand Sound from "no brand sound" to "Harman Kardon"
Startup Screen Sticker HMI: Change from "0" to "3"
After restarting the infotainment system, the Harman Kardon logo appeared which tells me some of the coding worked. However, the sound settings menu was locked out and it would not allow me to play any media from bluetooth or the radio. Also had parking assist failure warnings.
Scan showed fault U101400 in 5F - Control module incorrectly coded
I reverted the coding changes and everything is working as it was before. I am currently working on wiring everything up properly and will give this another try when complete.
Is there anything I missed in the coding?
Scan results are attached
