Hey guys
I have a Mk7 Golf R and have various tweaks enabled via obdeleven. One of the tweaks I have ran is the exhaust flap deactivation via long coding. I performed this by ensuring the car was in Race mode and then checking the live data via OBDeleven to ensure the flaps were open, then turning off car and ignition back on and performing the long coding tweak. I verified it worked by holding my hand over each tail pipe to check for exhaust fumes. The car does indeed seem to have more of a rumble however, i have noticed that if i change to eco and back to Race, the rumbles get louder which is what i want. Its as if the flaps didnt deactivate correctly. When I checked the live data before disabling the flaps, the data showed the flaps were open and at 90%, so how come the noise increases if i switch between eco and back to race? Very confusing.
Is there something i have done wrong?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks Chris

Does the exhaust sound louder inside the car or outside? If it sounds louder inside the car, it could be that you are hearing the sound actuator (wich is a soundbox in the dash if i remember correctly) You can dissable the sound actuator with OBDeleven.

Hey
No, i have the soundaktor disabled.
The sound is getting more rumbles from the exhaust. This should be the same each time i turn the ignition on, but its not. I need to select a different driving profile, then back to Race to hear the burbles - even though i disabled the flaps when they were at 90% open

I dont know if you already solved this problem. But you should be aware that switching to race mode does not only open the exhaust flaps. The whole engine will be different in setup. For example the throttle respons is also altered. So it is possible to have a different sound when switching to race mode. Mine R also runs stationary a little higher on the revs in race mode.. You should ask a tuner what the race mode does. They understand this much better than hobbiests like me.

Hey man, sorry for late reply
Thanks for the information.
You’d think that if the car was left in Race mode, that it would keep that configuration of the car is turned off and back on. I had a mechanic friend have a listen when i revved the car before and after race mode, at the exhaust and he could hear a notable difference in the burbles.
Thanks Chris
