hmm...... something odd!! Black in module list means that hex47 can't be reached, but clearly the Gateway module could reach the module to extract the hex47 module details for the scan result! With the module ticked - can you access the module directly by selecting 47 in the module list? Also, please post-up the complete long code for the hex5F module and the hex47 module (if possible)
Don
Here is the complete long coding for both modules And after installing the control module again I can still access it. 027300020000000021220002001800001F0203340100010546 - 5F MULTIMEDIA 22000000AAAAAA0000 - 47 Sound System

Also VERY important, manually enabling the 47 Sound System control module causes me to have no sound whatsoever.

I can change the brand of the amp in the 5F module in my screenshot from earlier since Fender is PR 8RU and Dynaudio is PR 9VE which is what the retrofit tells me to code in for the retrofit to get audio to work with the MIB1 AMP on the MIB2 Brain.

hmm........ I'm not sure what's happening with your car, but I found a scan report using "the other cable" from a car from Alberta Canada (so, NAR model - like yours) that has exactly your combination of Fender Amp and MIB.
I've shown details of the hex47 and hex5F modules from both cars for comparison below (the Canada car details in blue.
As you can see below- the Canada car also has the exact-same long code for both modules, yet the hex47 module shows-up on the other cable as a fully registered module!!

Very interesting find, I’m also in Alberta too hah. Although the serial number for 5F is different so not the same car. OBDeleven is also unable to pull a serial number for the hex47 module or amp. I’ve have no idea whats going on, but I appreciate your help. I’ve learned quite a few things during the whole process. I guess I might be a no go on the retrofit..

I just don’t understand why my audio works when hex47 isn’t installed and then completely breaks when I manually install it in the gateway installation list.

Although the serial number for 5F is different so not the same car. huh? Of course "the serial number is different" - it's a serial number!! A serial number is a unique identifier for each individual unit that rolls off the production line. It's not possible (ever) to have the same serial number in 2 x separate modules - by definition!! i can assure you that the fact that the part number and the software numbers (and the other numbers - excluding serial numbers) are the same means that these are identical MIB/Fender units!!! I just don’t understand why my audio works when hex47 isn’t installed and then completely breaks when I manually install it in the gateway installation list. Neither do I - but my hunch (emphasize "guess") is that it's a problem with the way that OBD11 reports sound modules on NAR (North America Region) mk7s.
If you notice how the modules in blue are reported, you will see that the structure is slightly different. This is because the information came from a VCDS diagnostic cable. Clearly, VCDS does report the hex47 module correctly on a NAR vehicle, whereas OBD11 does not. As I have said, my hunch is that this only happens with this module on NAR models. This doesn't happen on EU models with the same Fender units as evidenced in the scan HERE. The car in the link is an EU model because of the long-code on the hex5F module - notice that Byte 03=hex01, this means navigation maps=EU. So, if much hunch is correct and you can get access to a VCDS cable, I suspect that your hex 47 module will be reported correctly in an auto-scan with the other device. Don

Oh yes I know its a different car and different serial number I was just hinting at the point that its in Alberta, Canada which is exactly where I’m from haha.
I appreciate your help Don, I learned a lot. Thanks for the suggestions and taking your time to help me out. Maybe I’ll befriend someone with a VCDS cable and license one day.

It made my fender work!! Thank you bro, you saved my day!!

jeelong, you used OBDeleven and you had no issues seeing Module 47 while having the MIB2 headunit installed? I'm getting ready to do this, and I'm hoping I don't have the issues getting my AMP working. theories did you have any luck? Thanks

Update, I finally went through with it, and switched to MIB 2. I also have a fender system; I had no sound at the start and could not see Module 47. But after I applied the suggest coding for Module 5F, I have sound! But I still do not see Module 47, anybody else have luck being able to see Module 47 to complete the coding?
thanks!

I manually added Module 47, like theories and it's blacked out. I could still see it's long code and I tried updating bit 0 to 0x12 but after coding this, this doesn't appear to make a difference. Unlike theories I still had sound even after reboot. Subwoofer doesn't work with or without this changes. Anybody else find a solution to this problem?

Hi!
I'm new to this forum, but I'm hoping for some help as I've got a similar problem, in summary:
- I'm upgrading a 2015 Golf from MIB1 to MIB2 - I've installed the head unit, screen, USB socket - I still have a MIB1 Fender amp - I have recoded the amp to be DynAudio whilst the MIB1 was installed - I've recoded 5F to activate MOST and to set the output to external
However!
- Module 47 doesn't appear when the MIB2 headunit is installed - I can make the module appear by manually adding it - but it remains blacked out, although I can access it and code it
The main problem - I can't get any sound at all from it, I've gone through loads of different combinations of settings - but no luck.
Any ideas from anyone? One thing to note is that my head unit is an EUR unit and the car is NAR - however, everything is working great apart from no sound.
Thank you!

Have you had any luck? Is this a Delphi MIB2 unit that you have upgraded to? Check the long coding string matches the coding provided earlier in this Thread. Sadly, I also was not able to see Module 47 but I have sound, so I believe maybe things are functioning as well as they may for now. Sound is not as good as before but not bad either. I tweaked the sound settings using the headunit and this helped and overall I think I'm mostly satisfied with my swap. The bass is weaker than before in my opinion and I read another thread talking about further parametrization which is not possibly via coding but I need to dig into this further. I'm still having an intermittent issue occurring with the backup camera and I have no been able to solve it, "The ParkPilot is not available" error. Coding appears correct but no luck after trying different setting combinations. I found several threads mentioning this error and this appears to be a common issue. www.reddit.com/r/Volkswagen/comments/42o8ck/the_parkpilot_is_not_available_reverse_camera/If anybody has a solution for this please share!
