Hi. I have a Mk7 Golf 2015 from Norway and i am having trouble changing the DRL brightness when the low-beam is on. I am not using OEM headlights but Chinese "Golf-R Double U" replicas. The car was fitted with halogen headlights from the factory. The new headlights are plug and play and work just fine. The only "issue" is that the DRL brightness at night(when the low-beam is on) is too bright.(looks the same as when only drl is on). I see that a very similar post has been posted previously and i have tried to change the settings to dv52´s suggestions. forum.obdeleven.com/thread/739/drl-on-when-low-beams (referring to this post) I can tell that the brightness does lower a very small amount when i change from drl(0) to low-beam. What i am not sure about is if it is possible to change the brightness? I am able to change the parking-light brightness and the brightness for when only drl is on. Is it locked to 31?

myownname5 : Hi. hmm....... with no offense intended - despite EVERY non-VW manufacturer of retrofit headlights claiming that their products are "OEM", none are as they claim!!
In your case, the true OEM "Golf-R Double U" fittings have 14 x pin connectors and your car (which was factory wired for incandescent headlights) had 10 x pin connectors. So it was not possible to plug-and-play the true OEM fittings into the car without running extra wires back to the central electrics module!!
Anyhow, back to your question: As I said in your link - it's anyone's guess how the Chinese manufacturer has modified the DRL operation in the fittings (with additional electronic circuitry).
BUT for true OEM installations, the Leuchte-sets for the DRLs are Leuchte4TFL LB4 and Leuchte5 TFL RB32 for cars with incandescent headlights- The brightness of the DRL (0) function is controlled by the Dimmwert AB (default=100) and the brightness of the Parking Light function (i.e. operation with low-beams) is controlled by Dimmwert EF (default=31)
These dimmwert values are not fixed - they can be changed albeit I'm not sure how the change will affect non-OEM lamps. But I suggest that you experiment

Thanks for the quick response! I was not referring to the Chinese replicas as "OEM" but only as "golf-r look".. I bought them because they were plug and play. I have tried to change te dimmwert level for drl(0) and parkinglight and the brightness of the lights responds with my input in OBD. They turn off under level 5. But when i turn the lightswitch to low-beam(completley to the right) the brightness level doesn´t mach either the dimmwert setting for drl(0) or parking light. Is there any other setting i am missing? Or is it possible that the headlights have som pre-set birghtness for the lowebeam? Is there any way to find out? Here is a link to where i bought them: www.sw-tuning.de/SWDRLtube-Scheinwerfer-VW-Golf-7-12-16-LED-Blinker-U-TFL-R87-Chrom-Line-black::34650.html?MODsid=741380c95ba9a8666db949cbec8d5f30

myownname5 : hmm.......... from your link for the retrofit headlights:
"LED daytime running lights with R87 approval (real TFL) and LED parking lights in 3D LightTube light control technology"
I have absolutely no idea what "3D lightTube..... technology" means for the Parking Light function - but it most definitely isn't a set of words used by VW for OEM headlight fittings!!
If you want to persist with this matter - I suggest that you experiment. Perhaps the place to start might be the Lasttyp channels for the 2 x Leuchte-sets in my last reply. I'm not sure if you are aware, but Leuchte-sets have different Lasttyp channel values as factory set for incandescent and LED lamps. The difference between the values for the 2 x lamp-types changes the way that the central electrics module supplies Pulse Width Modulated power to the lights.
On your car, I assume that Lasttyp=9 - allgemeine Glühlampe 27W; auch H15 which is the factory setting that applies to incandescent DRLs. Now, your actual DRL are no longer incandescent- so maybe try changing this value to one of the options that contain the term "LED" . There are many LED options available from which to choose - but try those that feel-right - then try changing the Dimmwert values again. I don't believe that you can break anything - and you can always go-back to the factory settings if it doesn't work
Experiment with different Lasttyp values and try to find one that is more-compatible with your "3D LightTube" - but I'm guessing!!

PS: does your rotary light switch have an AUTO position?
