Hi guys, sorry for my bad english before.
I have golf mk7 with halogen headlight before, and I just changed to Led Headlight. My problem is the "U" DRL is off when low beams is on. Any idea how to make the U DRL stay on whenever my low beams on?
I apreciate for all your kindness help.
Thankyou

^^^^^ Gerry hello. I saw your reply on UGMAC's thread. Using the changes that I suggested for his/her car on your vehicle probably didn't work because your DRLs are wired differently to the Body Control Module (the control module that OBD11 calls "Central Electrics"). If you originally had halogen headlights and you now have LED headlights, you must have installed new fittings (halogen headlights don't have "angel eyes" - the U shaped DRLs).
You need to provide further information about the retro-fitted units

Hello dv52, thanks for your reply before.
I bought retro-fitted headlight in china, plug n play, without coding. My halogen headlights already have DRL before, its dimms automatically when parking lights is on, and its off when low beams is on. So, any possible to make my parking lights stay on when low beam is on?
Thankyou ^^

Gerry: I've had lots of questions about retro-fitted Chinese fittings in the past. Many of these fittings can not be altered with Leuchte programming because they have internal wiring that makes them operate in a particular way. Not sure if your fittings will be the same, but you could try the following: If you want the DRLs to illuminate to 100% with low-beam lights:- Search for Leuchte4TFL LB4
- Select Lichtfunktion B 4 Only if the existing setting is not active, change to Abblendlicht links
- Search for Leuchte5 TFL RB32
- Select Lichtfunktion B 5 Only if the existing setting is not active, change to Abblendlicht rechts
PS: don't confuse Abblendlicht links/rechts with Abbiegelichts links/rechts - they are very different commands If you want DRLs to illuminate to the same level as Parking lights (which is 31% as set in OEM halogen fitting) with low beam:- Search for Leuchte4TFL LB4
- Select Lichtfunktion C 4 Only if existing setting is Standlicht vorn (Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) change to Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)
- Search for Leuchte5 TFL RB32.
- Select Lichtfunktion C 5. Only if existing setting is Standlicht vorn (Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht) change to Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)

I'm very happy with the result. Btw don, any possible to enable coming home and leaving home feature without auto switch in my mk7? And enable cornering light in my headlights? Thanks don! ^^ Gerry: Well done-I'm glad that the tweak worked for you! I'm adding information to my database about retro-fitted HID units on mk7 that seem to be trouble-free. Can you provide details of the headlight units that you installed - please As for your other questions: Cornering lights in HID fittings: As I said previously, there seems to be many ways that these Chinese units are wired internally. Perhaps someone here knows the answer to this, but I have never found a way of making these work for the cornering function. The wiring diagram for OEM fittings shows that the VW units use a special control module (VW call this J745) that performs this function. In the factory units, this activity is controlled over the CAN bus (i.e. cornering is managed by digital messaging sent via the CAN network). Halogen headlights don't have a connection to the CAN bus. In cars with Halogen headlights, cornering lights are enabled via the fog lights (it's called "static" cornering - the fog light on the side of the car that is turning is energized). So- long way of me saying I don't know, but I think that it's not possible!! Coming Home (CH) and Leaving Home (LH): You need to have an AUTO position light switch (with light sensor) for LH, but this isn't required for CH. Here's the screen shot for the set-up for CH (see the top part of the picture only): I have CH enabled on my mk7 (using the driver's door), but the screenshot was taken from my test-jig (see screenshot below) so it shows the trigger as "ignition" - I'm still trying to get this function to work this way because I don't currently have a simulation for a driver's door on my test-jig. Few points to make about the screenshot:
- Coming Home Verbaustatus this channel determines whether you have to manually engage CH (with the high-beam lever), or whether the function is automatically enabled
- Menuesteuerung Coming Home Werkseinstellung this channel places the CH function on the menu screen
- Menueeinstellung Cominghome this setting determines the time delay before the CH lights switch-off (this can be set in the menu also)
- Coming-home Einschaltereignis this determines which switch-on mechanism will trigger CH - if you choose "driver door", then CH will be energized when you open the driver's door (not surprisingly)
- Coming Home Leuchten this setting determines which lights will be used - choice is "low beam" or "fog" (or "not active")
Switch-on procedure for CH
- Make sure that CH is enabled on the MENU
- Switch-off the ignition
- Pull-forward the high-beam stalk momentarily (for about 1 second)
- If you set-up the trigger channel as "driver door", then the lights that you selected will come-on when the driver's door is opened
- The time-delay (i.e. 10 seconds in my screenshot) starts to count-down when the last door is closed on the car (inc. the hatch)
Don PS: here's my test-jig (my virtual mk7!) - I use it to teach students Leuchte-programming

Hi don, sorry for late reply, I just came from business trip.
I just tried coming home feature and it did well. Thankyou for your help.
My headlight brand is RSB from chinese, but its already retro fitted by autolamp expert in my country.

^^^^^ Gerry. No need to apologize - no one here (least of all me) has a monopoly on information. If you look at the picture of my test-jig, you will see that it also uses one of your Chinese rotary light switches with the light sensor attached to the rear of the connector. I'm not sure if LH can be implemented with this third party sensor - I think not, but I'm more than happy for someone here to described how this can be done! Don EDIT: couple of interesting links below regarding this issue link 1link 2

As I said in my previous reply -"I think not" - but I'm happy to be proven wrong if anyone here can explain the process. It appears from the links that I have supplied (from Iflyforfood) that the Chinese switch can manage COMING home, but there is no mention of LEAVING home in the instruction set.

Gerry: I finally found the instruction-sheet that came with my Chinese rotary light switch (on my test-bench). It appears that my reticence about these switches supporting Leaving Home function was misplaced!
Don PS: Typical Chinese- English tortured prose, but it clearly states that there is a way of emabling Leaving Home

Gerry: What? You can't be serious - surely the VW dealer can't be so obtuse!! It's a rhetorical question because I've accompanied a few of my mates at meetings with VW dealers down here that have made similar claims. With a bit of perseverance and a lot of carefully worded questions, all of the dealers have agreed to fix the problems under warranty. It's a shame that OBD11 doesn't allow users to make an adaptation channel map of each control module in the car - like VCDS. Makings these "admaps" of the virgin settings in the car is extremely valuable because I've used these documents on a few occasions to prove to dealers that the changes could not possibly affect other items in the car.
What you need to ask the dealer is to explain precisely how making changes to the BCM on your car in a manner that has generated no DTCs (I assume this is so on your car) can break your OBU. We don't have these units down here, but it seems like a pretty far fetched argument from the Dealer to me - unless he/dhe can demonstrate a clear connection between the two events.

All you have to do is get into your mk7 and drive South! If you reach the South Pole then you have definitely gone too far but likely the island of Tasmania will be a good clue that you have missed Melbourne - if you do get to Tasmania, just turn around and head North for about 500 kms!
OK, now to your question - Retrofitting HIDs to a mk7 has a number of "pre-conditions" which go well beyond the scope of this forum (it's more than just an OBD11 matter), but here are a few issues that you might want to think about: - In most places around the world (not sure about Mexico), it's mandatory to have levelling devices installed when HIDs are fitted. This ensures that the HIDs don't blind the drivers in oncoming vehicles (one of my pet hates). Does your mk7 have a levelling system, or do you intend to retro-fit this facility? It's also mandatory in some countries to have headlight washers installed - again, not sure about Mexico.
- Not all BCMs are created equal and some are not compatible with HIDs. I have a couple of adaptation channel maps (note to Admin-something that OBD11 STILL doesn't provide!) in my database with your part number (5Q0 937 087 AA) and the cars do have factory fitted HIDs. So it's a promising start. Nevertheless, before you commence the project, I would check the BCM on your car and physically sight the presence of the two pins for the left/right shutters. If these pins are on the BCM (not on the socket), then it's a good sign that your BCM can accommodate HIDs. Access to the Wiring Diagram for cars in your region (NAR models, I assume) is necessary to establish the correct shutter pins, but a clue for the pin numbers can be found in the header-description for the Leuchte-set for the 2 x shutters: These are Leuchte10SHUTTER LB23 (left-side) and Leuchte11SHUTTER RB22 (right-side). This means that the corresponding shutter pins will be pin #23 - socket B (left-side) and pin #22 - socket B (right-side) - check to see if these pins are present on your BCM (the pin numbers and socket identifiers are stamped onto the BCM - see picture below)
- Apart from the extra control modules that will be required to operate the HIDs, you will also need to connect the convenience CAN bus to the new headlights - so a suitable connection point needs to be found.
- Also, you will need to accommodate a change from your current 10-pin connector to the new 14 pin connector - so a wiring diagram for the cars in your region is necessary (NAR, model, I assume). Some retrofitted HIDs use a cross wiring harness that tricks the BCM into thinking that the old incandescent headlights are still present. Usually when this is done, some functionality is lost (i.e cornering lights often).
- Finally, after the physical install is done, there will need to be code and adaption channel changes - the extent and exact nature of these changes varies considerably depending on the inevitable compromises that are made during the installation process.

It seems all very complicated, I think that go to Melbourne could be a good option after all, i have yours directions XD je je. First of all thanks for your help Here in Mexico there are no restrictions, laws regarding vehicle safety are the last century, until 2020 will be mandatory for new cars sold have 2 airbags and ABS brakes, Why until 2020? I don´t know, so therefore it is not mandatory to have headlights washers or AFS, these systems i´m going to equip to my car in a second stage, however the mk7 golf for North, central and South America is manufactured in the vw-audi plant here in Puebla,I guess that's why my car is equipped with this BCM, my mk7 the highline version, By having vw plant here, many pieces circulating in the local market, and many types of adapters are sold, I will check what I need and if could not find it, maybe i can build one. Here the photos: bcm pins And current halogen headlights conectors. BCM Part Number image

Hello. I don't know what i have done but something of my lights don't work. The direction lights when you turn the wheel driving and the cornering lights while you are driving slow don't switch on. Could you please explain me the codification for that. Sorry for my english. I hope you have understood my question. Thank you
