Hi All

First post in this forum and a reasonably pleased owner of a brand new Golf MK8 1.5eTSI in Style Trim.

I drove the car back from the dealership yesterday and almost immediately i had some software issues. Later that night i even got a 48V battery voltage indicator issue which asked me to tow the car to the dealership!!! Luckily that error went away but i can still see some related issues.

I am in the UK by the way

Here is the scan with VIN removed Any ideas on the errors? It is going back to the dealership tomorrow to fix an annoying rattle under the steering wheel which i think i have already identified as some loose cables so they will check on the faults as well. I also attached a picture of the 48V battery issue...this was my first night with the cat while i was running the car without the engine running and just checking all the options available on the head units.

mm8718 : Hi - interesting scan (I've not seen a mk8 scan using OBD11 device before).
As to the faults - look at the dates listed for each fault (where dates appear) and ascertain if these are before/after the date that you collected the car.

If before - ask the dealer how they define their pre-delivery regime and why the errors weren't detected

If after - ask the dealer why the errors have appeared so early in the post-delivery period

Hi Don, sorry for the late reply.

Yes my car is most certainly affected by SFD.

I can’t do any more scans yet as when I got the car I had the first gen adapter and an Android phone whereas I have since moved to IPhone and I am awaiting my gen 2 adapter to come through as for some reason I can’t use the old one with iPhone.

I note your comments about the dates of the faults but since my original post I had to go back in to the dealer for a number of Travel assist issues and over at the vwaudi forum there are lots of folk with similar software issues to mine.

Mechanically I love driving this car, software however is poor. I had speakers cutting out, climate controls not coming up, every travel assist possible dinging at me, reboots, disconnected from internet and I am sure there will be others. A surprise every day!!!

I also had the same error messages, the dealer has re write the factory software from and for the time being I have no travelnassist error messages for a month. the errors you had have also disappeared in large numbers on my car.

I managed to clear the existing faults on the attached with the OBDEleven 2 i received today but i still have 3 persistent ones around Battery Voltage and Starter Generator

Dealer is unwilling to help with any faults and at the moment but i am hoping in the new year they may be more helpful.

I really want to know whether i should worry about these faults or not.

I never hand-over my final bank-cheque for the purchase of the car unless the dealer can show me an ODIS report with the car's VIN, and the words "no error" on ALL modules.

My suggestion is that you take the car back to the dealer and have them run the dealer diagnostic device ODIS on the car. If the ODIS report shows any errors, then perhaps you might seek some answers from the dealer-maybe?

what also struck me was that you probably received an error message from parking assistant, maneuver break and parking aid already at 84 km this is correct.

I do not own a Golf 8. But the new Seat Leon 2020 runs on the same software as the Golf MK8 does.

Same issue here. (Leon FR ST)

For the Leon there is a kind of silent recall set up to software update the energy management system. Only when I called the dealer they told me about te recall.
For me it solved most issues.

Maybe it is to any of your use?

This might save people a few phone calls. My new Golf MK8 was prompting for an oil change at 100km after only 24km on the clock. I had it back with VW yesterday and it's a known SW bug, but it won't be fixed for about 2 months, so you have to live with it!
