I have a 2016 Golf. North America model (Canada). When I try to use the Urbanjoke app I get an error that it's not supported. I'm sure that I HAVE bulb tail lights and NOT led. I'm trying to figure out why I'm getting the error. I was really looking forward to this app. This is the type of lights my car has... i.ytimg.com/vi/3xv7LTrcOKg/maxresdefault.jpg

Tried both versions. Nothing would work. I guess I'll have to go in and manually make the changes if I want it. If anyone figures out why it's not working for me let me know.

If your adaptation values doesn't mach standard values (original tail lights adaptations) then you will get message not supported. So if you have made any modifications with your tail lights you must revert to original values first.

Well that doesn't work for me, since I enable Scandinavian DRL's and Hazard Braking with OBDeleven. This is supposed to be easy, come on guys!

OK, I checked my settings. As I said i have never changed any of this. I actually had a hard time finding what i was looking for. There are 2 entries that are different by default in my car.
1: Leuchte Left Outer Tail (20BR LA71)-STOCK VALUE (14)-Leuchte20BR LA71-Dimmwert EF 20 36 ..... my default value was 28.
2: Leuchte Right Outer Tail (21BR RC8)-STOCK (14)-Leuchte21BR RC8-Dimmwert EF 21 36 ...... my default value was 28.
When I changed them to what you say is default then the app worked. Some cars are being build with different default values for some reason, at least in this case.

I have improved UrbanJoke app code so now it will work for users with stock value 28

Hi [Admin] Can you please reach out to me via PM or email to let me know what, if any changes need to be made to our Official UrbanJoke Tweaks Google Doc, for consistency's sake? I don't want any inconsistencies between the obd11 forums/app and our documentation. Thanks

^^^^^^^^^^^bakili: Just follow the screen instructions below which I used originally for another purpose. Select Leuchte20BR LA71 / Leuchte21BR RC8 in the 3rd screen (see the 2nd & 3rd last entries in the bottom RHS screen) and check for Dimmwert EF 20 /21 in the last screen (you will need to scroll-down in the bottom LHS screen)

Followed instructions Don and got following screenshots Not sure what to do next. Bakii: didn't you want to find the values in (14)-Leuchte20BR LA71-Dimmwert EF 20 and (14)-Leuchte21BR RC8-Dimmwert EF 21? Your screenshots show that the settings for these channels is 0. In fact, the entire "Leuchte sub-set" on your car is not active for these to "Leuchte-sets". So your car is coded differently to that of paulegons (who posted the settings for the 2 x adaptation channels above) Don

Thank you Don If I change these values to 28, will app work after? Bakili: I don't know because the screen shots that you posted don't show the settings for the complete "Leuchte-set". But, I suspect that it won't work because the two Parent channels appear to be not active - which means that there is no lamp connected to pin # 8, Socket C and pin #71, Socket A on the Central Electrics control module on your car (the two lamps are probably connected elsewhere).

I cannot get the urban joke to work on my sportswagen mark 7 either. Not sure where to look for codes or if I should change them.

What type of mk7 - NAR, or RoW? What type of rear tails - incandescent, or LED? How have you attempted to implement the tweak- App, or manual? What has been the results of your attempts - error messages on the car (if so, what are they), or error messages on the OBD11 dongle (if so, what are they)? What is the meaning of life - only kidding?

Alas, I am a complete newb. Apologies for the paucity of information. Last time I did any of this was on my MINI 10 years ago.
NAR-North America?
US Alltrack wagon Standard incandescent bulbs. No error messages. The app just says Not Supported. Just tried the app to program. I assume I will have to get into the tweaks or program to implement this feature?
As for the meaning of life...getting closer to that one...but then I run out of home-brew and have to start over. Thanks.

As for the meaning of life...getting closer to that one...but then I run out of home-brew and have to start over. Thanks. Steve Steve: Ain't nothing wrong with being a "complete newb"- I consider myself to be one one as well compared to the awesome expertise of some on this forum (notwithstanding the overly generous and very kind words from Daniel)! And thanks for the additional information- the extra data simply provides a context for the question The profile of your car seems to exactly fit the type of vehicle that the Urban Joke was intended-for, so it's a mystery to me why you are having these problems! I'm aware that Apps (like Urban Joke) first interrogate the Leuchte-sets (being the group of 19 x adaptation channels that control a single lamp) that are about to be changed to test that the existing settings are as per the factory coding. I suspect that passing these tests can be problematic if any of the adaptation channels aren't as expected. Even a difference as trivial as a variation in Dimmwert value has the potential to make the App "spit-the-dummy" (Aussie vernacular)! Maybe this has happened in your case -just a guess. Anyhow, it's kind-of a good thing that this has happened because the failed App has delivered to you the opportunity for a valuable learning experience! My suggestion is that you abandon the App altogether and that you consider implementing the tweak manually - thereby saving the credits and taking you out of the rank of "complete newb" and into the category of semi-professional OBD11 user! Should you accept the challenge, here's what you could do: - Select Central electrics module (@ address hex09)
- Select Security access
- Enter the magic number 31347
- Select Adaptation
- Search for Leuchte20BR LA71
- Compare the existing settings in your car against the values in the STOCK Settings column in the table below
- Only if the existing settings are confirmed, change the values to the NEW Settings column
- Repeat VI and VII for the remaining 3 x Letche-sets in the table below
- When completed -pour yourself a long-tall glass (or two) of chilled home-brew and contemplate the mysteries of the universe (and beyond)!
