Hello Team,

I've already reported the same issue via support chat in the app, but would like to pay more attention to the problem here. I hope that I am wrong in my assumption, but so far it looks like a really serious problem.

I have Tiguan 2 2019. I did full scan and erase trouble codes before I start to activate hidden functions on the car. I did it many times on Tiguan 2, so after I completed all required activations, I did full scan and erase trouble codes one more time. I was surprised that 2 permanent error codes appear in 5F and 56 blocks. It is the same error U111100. I didn't see such error before, thus I decided to open car history and review it. It looks like something wrong was changed in block coding so it doesn't function properly. My assumption was confirmed after I have found two groups of long coding changes after each full scan and trouble codes erase operations. Here is one of such blocks. Sorry it is on Russian, but you can see block, old and new long coding and time:

As you may see OBD11 silently changes long coding string for 7 blocks! And it is not just one bit change, it is massive change in the coding of the block. I didn't change long coding of such blocks during this time for sure. If my assumption about silent change is true, then it is SUPER CRITICAL defect in OBD11, as you may see the device changes coding in block #15 that is responsible for safety.

I don't want to return back to original value coding for 5F block until OBD support investigates the problem, but I expect that U111100 disappear after I return 5F coding to original old value before the change.

P.S. I saw similar wired behaviour 1 year ago on Touareg 2 car, when I change something in 56 block and OBD device silently changes long coding of 56 to wrong. As a result speakers from one side of the car stop working after this. To solve the problem I restored coding back to old value before the change. When I reported the issue to OBD support, I was told that it is my fault and I did it manually. I decided to stop this back and force with support team 1 year ago, just stop using OBD for Touareg 2 coding, but this time it repeats with Tiguan and quite awful (if it is really true).

If it is required, I can attach the entire car log to this thread, but I expect that support team has access to all logs.

Did you manually make coding changes or did you run an app?

If you ran an app, which app or apps did you run? While we don’t see what apps are doing, it is known that some long coding functions can touch and make changes to other areas.

Asking because I’ve used OBD11 to make adaptation and long coding changes manually and this behavior has never been exhibited.

By clarifying what was actually performed it can help narrow down and issue, or potentially reveal an error in app coding that’s been released, or it’s possible that your controller(s) don’t work properly with the app(s) ran due to newer hardware or firmware.

I am quite advanced VAG coder and did coding for 100+ different cars via OBD. This is the first time I see such issue. Of course I did coding in adaptations and 2-3 in long coding, but I didn't change anything in 4B or 15 blocks. My assumption is that during trouble codes cleaning OBD for some reasons change long coding. I am glad that it is reflected in the car history. Otherwise it will be not possible to restore, only using official service and restoring factory coding online.

Support still keeps silence here and in the chat. I hope to get a response from them at least tomorrow.

I never said you weren’t, I only asked for more detail on how you went about changes since all you said was that you made changes.

To assist troubleshooting it helps to know the methodology and steps you performed to determine where the issue might be, as I’m sure OBD11 will ask the same questions I asked if you get a response from them.

My apologies for trying to assist but apparently I offended your capabilities. I’ll respectfully bow out. Hopefully you get a response from their support team.

I am ok. I did quite standard operations:
1. Scan all blocks on errors
2. Erase errors
3. Activate 30 ambient light colors

In the car history I see:
1. Scan on errors
2. These long coding changes in 7 blocks
3. One-click function apply

That is it. I can only imaging if the car owner tap on something in the multimedia during my scanning on errors, but it is magic if user clicks in multimedia may change long coding for 7 blocks

I have found the root cause. It is quite serious defect in OBD11 software. I've scanned my own tiguan and have found similar changes in long coding in the car history. I've compared car history from both cars (mine and previous car) and confirmed my assumption. OBD11 remembers long coding from the previous car, when you scan a new car, diff in long coding for each block between two cars is logged as long coding change in the car history. That is it

I told them it may be best to reply to your post here and contact you for more details. They stated they did forward this to their developer as a BUG and they will investigate this.

Hope that helps. I’m holding off on doing any coding on my Dad’s new 2020 Tiguan since I have a 2019 Tiguan and don’t want to run the risk of merging of the vehicle coding.

Don't worry, you can code both cars. It is just app issue, as I said it doesn't change any long coding... just log this operation to the car log. That is it.

OBD11 support is quite lazy... If they still do not provide the issue to the dev team, I am fully disappointed with their professional level. I have investigate and provided the root cause to them. They still asking me stupid questions.
