Do I run the scan with OBDeleven with my engine on or off?
(I was told that you should turn on the engine while the OBDeleven is scanning. That way you will get potential fault codes that are tied to engine or transmission, which otherwise wont show up if the car is not running its engine.)
Is this true?

On my MQB Platform I can run a scan with engine on but as you say it does give a lot of errors (in my case just the DSG).
Personally I run scans with engine off

1. So, running the scan with the engine on does give you a more detailed scan? (because when the engine is running. It might reveal some problems and faults that "engine off" scan cant detect?) Or will the "offline" scan also give, for example high pressure pump fault code, or I can only get that when I run the engine? I want to know if there are any fault codes in my car. 2. Are the fault codes that appear during engine on scan false alarm or are they true fault codes? (idk if OBDeleven was designed to scan with engine on. So maybe its confusing it?) Thanks

Truth is I do not know, however I have always been led to believe you should do with engine off simply because with engine on the engine and gearbox will give you a false error's. As I said I only have the issue with gearbox and I do not think my normal scan is missing anything. Unless somebody can confirm for sure I would suggest contacting support and asking why there is a difference dv52 (Australia) may be able to help but he is in Aus so wont answer quickly.

Thanks, I can wait and see if dv52 (Australia) gets back to us. It would be nice to have GOLF MK7FL people see this too as it pertains to that car in particular. I made another thread GOLF subforum but it got deleted for some reason. Kill me for wanting to know answ to my question

I suspect it was deleted as a duplicate post, yes you are asking about the MK7 facelift (and it applies to both pre and post facelift) but this applies to all MQB platform cars so I think this is a good place for it to stay, and lets face it the point of the forum is we all share stuff apart from our cars of course.
Update not sure they have deleted it as vwjap kindly gave you an answer

In my past experience, I've always scanned ignition on engine off unless using live data
