I'm using OBD11 on a Samsung Galaxy Tab that cannot be updated to more than Android 4.4.4. So I cannot update to the newer versions since July 1st 2020. On this page obdeleven.com/en/faqs/general-questions-about-obdeleven/app_update.html it says that "An existing application will continue to work, but it no longer can be updated, and could not be installed from the app store on devices using android 4.X versions. Over time, app features might stop working as well." When I try to connect to my car, the app wont connect and says "update" in a red box. How do I use it without updating?

I suspect that is the problem, My guess would be that 16.2 like many versions will be set to automatically look for new release and try and update.
I would speak with support and see if they can give you the .apk of the last supported (Android <5) version as that should not then try and update and when I looked at it last even if you went on to Play Store it would not show any downloads.

This will depend on whether there have been changes to the way the backend interacts with the app in the newer versions (I suspect there have been changes). If so the older versions will no longer work, period. To be fair to the developers android 4 is ancient, support for android 5 on is already very generous.

Just been out using A very old Samsung Tablet running Android 4.4.2 and using OBD11 24.0 and was able to connect to the car, run a scan and use an app. So for now yes it does work but over time I am afraid it will start to do less and less. paulbnv If you cant get an apk from OBD Support let me know and I will give you a link to a copy I have. Cheers
