I have a 2017 Golf with the AID, i quite like having the Map directly in front of me but have noticed that the default is with the bigger dials, everytime I start the car I have to go into the menu and tick the small dials, does anybody know what I need to do to get small dials ticked by default?

Hmm... mine remembers the last state it was in (May 2018 GTI)?

Thanks sootchucker, sometimes mines does, sometimes it doesn't, if I have had another display up and change it to maps I would still need to go into the menu and change it to small dials, maybe it was refined as mines is a May 2017.
Just saw vwjap's post, well mines definitely does sometime forget and I have to set the dials to small sometimes, was looking for a way to set the dials small by default.

Go into the menu? What menu? While I’m on map I’m sure I just hit ok on the steering wheel, mines April 2017
So just gone out to car, switched ignition on, swapped screen to nav, small dials, pressed OK button on steering wheel, big dials, pushed it again and went back to small dials, clicked the down button and noticed the menu you was talking about (something like enhanced map) then swapped screen to every different one (drive assist, distance, lap timer, music, telephone, and when back at nav after a couple of seconds the dials went back to small

I was just out as well,started the car Nav screen came up with big dials,had to go into the menu to tick the enhanced map view,seems ignition off clears that setting, what I would like would be to make the enhanced map view the default, that's what I mean about the car forgetting the setting, it gets cleared when ignition is turned off, sure it happened once or twice that the dials reverted back to normal size while scrolling through the different displays, I know you know your stuff vwjap, take it there is no way to set the small dials(enhanced mapview) by default so the car automatically keeps that setting ? would imagine its a long coding setting ?
didn't know the Ok button shortcut that switched big/small
