I am interested in the Live Data displays available from OBDeleven Gen 2. However, I am a new IOS user, and have never seen any examples of what can be displayed. I assume Live Data means just that, the values displayed change in real time as the app receives new data from the OBDeleven dongle.
Is the Live Data displayed as Walls of Text, or Charts, Gauges, Graphs, etc? And these are presented only on the smartphone screen that is running the app, correct?
How about supporting Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and feeding those Live Data displays to the AUDI MMI? There could be support for switching preconfigured displays, using the MMI controls, and onscreen icons, etc.
I can imagine having automatically switched displays of Live Data at some user spec'ed time interval. Perhaps one for long distance driving; another display for track runs; Displays that pop up automatically when a fault or anomaly is detected in some parameter values, etc. Displays that pop up when a user specified threshold value is violated, to show the trend of this data item for the last few minutes.
Ideally, the user could configure their own Live Data displays of selected data, display intervals, thresholds, bounds, and warning values to trigger popup data windows. The sky is the limit and this could allow OBDeleven to provide significant value even after SFD prevents using it as a modifier/upgrader/maintenance tool.
Perhaps this could be done by a 3rd party, with cooperation and licensing of OBDeleven to provide continuing revenue for OBDeleven.

sleazey Live data is as you say a list of items that the app allows you to read in real time. At this point you can view it in three ways, Firstly as a screen output (one item after the other), Secondly as Gauges (under dev on IOS) but limited to one gauge only at a time, Thirdly as a chart (under dev in IOS At this time). There are a number of limits to these simple tools. Firstly you can only run the live data that is listed on one control unit at a time (so you can't show engine and gearbox data together) You are limited to the number of items that can run quickly, the more items you add the less frequent the updates are, this was increased with the new dongle but be aware. The chart tool just shows all the attributes in a simple graph (I would prefer this was not shown as it takes up screen space) but the selling point is the output can be saved and exported in .csv file format which is very helpful. With regards to the other items you talk about as i said above this is a simple tool with many features missing, add the detail in the request section and maybe obd11 will add them in. I don't use CarPlay or Android Auto so don't know what level of support is provided but thought you could display the output on car screen (but may be wrong). There are a number of tools out there already (Torque Pro is good example) that specialize in the display of live data in lots of different formats and provide alerts and head up display features. Personally i use OBD11 for coding (horses for courses) and other tools for fancy screen output
