car - 2019 C8 A6 45 (2.0TFSI) P+
Issue - Scan and Backup not working properly
I received my OBDeleven and tried it today for the first time, was able to connect to it.
Unfortunately I had some issues right away, when I tried to scan the car, it only got to 20/29 modules and got hung up on "80 Battery Regulation" (it also found 4 problems up to that point).
I tried to rescan several times but it always got hung up on 80 Battery Regulation (20/29) and would sit there for over 5 minutes before I would manually stop it. I was performing this with the engine running, and I think I tried it also with the engine off but can't recall now.
After canceling a few times I tried to to a full backup (which everyone says to do right away, unfortunately, it got stuck at module 03 Central Electronics. I tried to cancel and hit ok to cancel, but would just stay there, so I closed the app.
I shut the car down, unplugged the OBDeleven from the care, waited 5 minutes, Then I tried again by doing 1 module at a time (backup) and again it got stuck at 03 Central Electronics (it would just sit there spinning and never stop). This was with the engine running.
I did notice during the backup of the engine module that on the DIS that the engine oil level showed for several seconds
Hoping someone has has a tip, as to what I might be doing wrong on the scan and backup and if the engine should be on or off (off with ignition on) or maybe the hood should be open or closed (I did try the scan both ways open and closed hood/bonnet)
Thanks!

I have a pretty same problem. Scan works fine, but at Full Backup app OBDeleven freezes at 02 Transmission - 9 %. I use Android 10.

Try ignition on, engine off. Good up.

Scans I always run with ignition on and engine off, not sure about the bonnet up as I thought this was only for coding not scans but it cant do any harm.
I have not seen this issue with the scanning but what i would do is try and connect to control unit 80 Battery regulation first just to make sure its working ok. From the car menu select control unit and you will see all the control units you have, scroll down to 80 Battery regulation and check the color of the circle round the 80 is either Green (good) or Red (faults) if its a different color let us know what it is.
Then just open the control unit - dont need to do anything just checking you can see it and connect to it.
Re the full backup I would do this with engine running and bonnet open as I found that if battery power is low it can cause issues. Also make sure you have good wifi signal
As above have you tried to connect to control unit 03 (I don't have your car but thought that was the Brake module) and again check the color. Have you tried to do an individual control unit backup of the one that is failing.
Just double check the color of the control unit (to make sure its green or red) and if you cant do either full or single control unit then as above report it to support
Sorry I can help maybe somebody else who has IOS can offer more of a work around, what I can say is that both Android and IOS seem to have bugs in the backup process at the moment and hopefully support are working on this.

Mine completes but has bad data other owners complain about getting to 56% on a different control unit so it will help support understand the problem if you give them your details as well.
Thanks

So I tried it as you said and will report the bug as you instructed unfortunately.
When running the initial startup scan, it again stopped at 80 Battery Regulation, I canceled after 5 minutes of not moving on to the next module.
I tried this with ignition on (engine off) and hood up and hood down, engine on and hood up. I had 4 of 5 bars of data signal (4G, ATT calls it 5G E)
I also tried with ignition on/engine off going to the module, which had a green circle around the 80, and after trying to connect it would just sit there with a spinning circle for over 5 min before shutting down (I also tried it with engine on, hood up). So it will not connect to Module 80 Battery Regulation.
However, with ignition on/engine off I was able to backup module 09 Central Electrics (I had made an error earlier saying it was 03, but it is 09).
I was able to manually go into other modules, other than 80 Battery Regulation, but ran out of time to back all of them up (I have only backed up manually one by one 5 modules).
One other quick question, do I need to also back up "Advanced Identification" and "Live Data" or just "Coding" and "Adaptation"?
I am running your iOS App version 1.3.0
Thanks again for your assistance.

C8 test driver just so you know we are not OBD11 Staff just users trying to help other people. Re 09 that makes more sense now there is a bug that has been reported by a few users that does not allow you to backup 09 Central Electronics. It does however work when you do not tick live data. Live data is a nice to have (so you can see state of stuff at a given point) but until they fix the bug you dont need it Long Coding and Adaptions are key, Advanced ID is good to have and I am fairly sure (based on other user problems) that this will work without Live data ticked. Myself and a few other users have provided the Dev team with lots of Video's and phone data so they can try and resolve this issue. So you have a bug that others have but the Battery Regulation issue I have not seen before so please report that and use the report a bug function on the phone. Cheers

Thanks Testeronline, I appreciate your time and dedication as a volunteer...
PS - I was able to manually do the 09 Central electric backup with live data, it just took a long time.
Thanks for the other replies.

Hey all, im havnig a similar problem. I can do a full scan but a full backup crashes at different points. Both with engine on and off but the ignition is always on and a successful connection. I tried backing up only the long coding and adaptations which worked fine. BUT everytime i press the 'share' button to try to email myself the back up files it crashes. Im on IOS, latest app, next gen dongle and iphone x(latest IOS). Just contacted the company but it's holidays so i'll have to wait

FYI I still can't run a full scan, nor do a full backup, I have to back up modules independently. I can do modifications for long coding and apps etc.
