I was wondering is there anyway to change the mfd to display km instead of miles on a mk6 golf?

you can enable "alternate speed display" to show you the digital KM/H instead of the ambient temperature.
To change the needle movements to the corresponding analog "number", this would need to be done in EEPROM, by editing it using tools like VDOeditor.
If you can get someone to read your EEPROM using something like AVDI, then I can make the adjustments, and send it to you to write it back to your cluster.
