Just browsing the web and noticed that towards the end of 2018 / beginning of 2019, VW did a subtle mod on the switches on the steering wheel. On mine, on the right hand set, I have a telephone button at the top (nearest the air bag) and below that a voice button.
I've seen that on the later models, the voice button has been moved up to the position of my telephone button, and in place of my voice button there is now a View button (which I assume takes you straight to the custom set up page of the active info display ?
Anyone know if apart from the buttons there's any hardware changes and if the current buttons can be pre-programmed via OBD-11 ,as I don't tend to use the telephone button much, but the View button seems much more usable ?

Sadly and suprisingly, all the steering wheel buttons are hardwired/coded. To change a button's behavior you would have to exchange the buttons and the pcb below them. As an addition, the underlying control would also need to forward and correctly interpret the new button, which might be troublesome in most cases, as there are many dead ends for Software Updates for Gateways and Dashboards
