So I guess your 5f is from a facelift (as you can add the background lighting to later model mk7’s), and they got shot of the mk7 stuff on mk7.5 (interesting), but unless someone changed the long coding in the unit from 12 to 02 when the unit was transferred into your car then the unit should’ve been programmed for 12 originally no?

My unit is from pre-facelift. It's an original MIB2 installed in this vehicle. Only about month ago I forced firmware update (from 02xx to 04xx) which brings facelift GUI assets as well. My problem with empty background lightning menu goes way before 02xx to 04xx firmware conversion. I believe MST2 by Technisat was never ready for backlight menu in pre-facelift MK7. Here you can see that the pre-facelift ambient light assets are missing from the filesystem in MST2. 0203070200 is pre-facelift MK7 variant; 0203070201 is facelift MK7 variant. You can see AmbianceLight folder missing. ![]()  |

Can anyone advise where the long coding to change between Mk7 and MK7.5 is? I suspect I have this problem too. Update: If anyone else has this problem, I solved mine by changing 5F long coding as below. My Head Unit was configured for MK7.5 but my car was MK7. I changed the highlighted digit from 0 to 1.  |
