Hi
I seem to remember being able to email a full history of changes done to a car or even get a list of current adaptation channel values and email those, but it has been several years since I tried.
We have a new 2019 Alltrack now and I would like to export the default values of the adaptations channels and email them to myself.
The problem is that when I have done a backup and tried to email anything from the vehicle history area the email compose window appears but no file is ever attached no matter what I try even though it says that it’s generating a log before the email compose window appears. this happens with a full backup or just trying to view checked items from Vehicle History What is the fix? How can I send a list of current defaults and then future changes I make it now file is being generated? What am I missing?
Thanks.

Are you using IOS Or Android. On the assumption its Android (as I can help with that) Firstly there are two types of backups, the first (taken from the main car screen) does all control units one after the other. The second is where you do a backup of a specific single control unit Currently I am aware of two bugs Firstly if i try and send all my stuff from my history table (which has a lot in it) then it starts to create the file, spins and spins and then it just fails and closes down the app. With regards to single backup files you have to do it using the following procedure at the start of this post cupra280.co.uk/obd11.html#backupHowever if you do a full backup, then go to history (using the history link on the main car page), filter by date and full backup (as shown in above link) Then you will see a list of backups (if you have done more than one, then use the first icon (square that looks a bit like a clock face). This will open up the file so you can see all the detail, then select the email button and after a minute it opens up the various email options, in my case I use gmail and as soon as I select that it attaches a file to the email and sends fine. Is that how you have been trying to do it and can you confirm that when you look at the full backup on the screen you can see multiple items (control units)

Yes that’s how I’ve been doing it, from a full backup with the small square email icon, then from the main email icon at the top of screen after the back file has opened. The Android email app opens and the compose window is there but there is never a file attached to any email I send out.
I made sure the app has file system permissions too just in case that was an issue. I’m totally confused because I feel like I’m doing it right so there has to be a bug. I QA test for a living so I’ve been banging on this for an hour or more trying everything I can think of and nothing is working. Again I am not familiar with android though.

The process does work as i just sent myself an old backup i did over the weekend.
When you look at the backup file on the screen can you see actual data (just checking that the backup process has worked)
If you manually go into Android/data/com.voltasit.obdeleven/cache, can see the generated history.txt file, if so you can manual export it works. Or do a search for History.txt
If you find the file and it looks good report the issue to support via the in app tool and tell them what phone / android version you are using

It won’t just automatically attach to an email from within the app for some reason no matter what I try.

Well the good news is the old work around still works. Yes its a pain but there is something specific about your setup that is causing the issue as I can email full backup files with no issue. I would suggest you post the details here obdeleven.proboards.com/thread/8516/20-2-5?page=1&scrollTo=38194 and make sure you put your phone and android details and also use the in app help function to tell dev about the problem.

One other question, as we have had 3 releases over the weekend just double check you are running v 20.5, if not download and see if that makes any difference.
