Hi all
I have a MK6 golf GTI 155kw/210bhp. I have just been to VW to get AFS no bend light function diagnosed and they reset all lights to factory.
Now the LED tail lights dont light up and LED DRL's dont either. Can anyone please help with regards to coding these as VW unable to do it (I know - ridiculous).
They say the lights are not stock but look like stock thats why they cant code them.
Please help anyone or info on who could help. I live in cambridge UK but can travel.

so played around and tried all codes that I could find. Byte 18 changed to 04 and all lights work. (AFS still dont work but that will be fixed with a new G78 sensor). I used OBD11 pro and gave me so much more confidence using it. If anyone has AFS issues or needs help coding aftermarket lights like my mk6 GTI please let me know I have now done quite a bit of research so may be able to help. Best wishes to you all Jimmy

Byte 18 changed to 04 and all lights work. That is the one byte you do not touch under ANY circumstances. That is an evil black hole that even the great Ross-Tech has advised against touching. That "stock" value you saw there isn't actually what it really is either OBDeleve / VCDS gives you a sort of "approximation" of what the coding was, but from what I recall reading Byte 18 is handled internally by the module itself in some undocumented way. It is less time-consuming for you to replace the module from an identical vehicle (same configuration). You can't simply copy and paste the value of Byte 18 from an identical vehicle. I have to find the Ross-Tech article. There needs to be a warning posted for Byte 18.
