Is it possible in the Tiguan to disable the feature that warns you to Take Over Steering! and if you don’t by move the steering wheel. Lane keep is disabled. If not can the time it takes before it is disabled by increase?

I am amazed that this feature doesn't have more interest, or that someone hasn't figured out how to disable this yet. It really annoys me. No, it doesn't mean that I will be sleeping at the wheel, taking my eyes off the road, or even my hand off the steering wheel, but on a long drive, when the car subtly does the steering work for you it is so much easier, and why this feature was developed. It seems ridiculous to have it set to only do it for 15 seconds at a time. Even a capacative touch steering wheel or whatever it's called, or a camera on the drivers eyes, would be a better way of doing this, so that as long as you are touching the wheel or watching the road, it does the steering for you when it can. It is still definitely not fool-prof, and I wouldn't trust it on it's own, as it does cut out randomly and can't handle large bends, but when it is working, it makes the drive a lot easier and more relaxing.

You only have to give the wheel a little flick and it turns off. Lucky you arent in AUS where we have dead straight roads in one case of 90 miles and lots of them arent too much shorter than that.
Probable reason is if you arent watching and it loses lane guidance you could go off the road. Ive just learned to live with it.

The system isn’t great at high speeds with quick turns. By all means try, feel your butthole pucker as the vehicle goes into oncoming traffic and LKA automatically disengages. Sounds exciting doesn’t it especially for a family hauler. The adaptive lane keep assist technology is between a Level 1 and Level 2 on the autonomy scale at best. Plus VW doesn’t enable by default to the extent it’s coded. If you want that level, then you’re at Tesla level technology.

So no one has figured out how to disable this?
Everyone just seems to have an opinion on why you shouldn't..

You can’t, it’s hard coded.

I tried the bottle water trick from Arizona to tennessee and it worked great as last ng as you are going highway speed. It does confuse sometime when he gets to the exits but overall worked great. I wish I could disable the warning as well.
