So, my Audi A4 B8.5 (2013 Avant Quattro 2.0TDI 130kw) shows ESC malfunction, refer to owners manual-message on dash screen. However,I get no fault codes when scanning with OBD11, only warning on dash.
Any idea anyone what way should be taken to start solving this?
I did get on previous scan a fault code C100D13, regarding left rear epb. I opened the connector to the e-brake motor, little dust inside but pins and cable itself looked ok. Cleaned all contact points with contact cleaner and dried using comp. air.
After clearing fault codes, C100D13 did not come back on, but still there is warning about ESC fault on display. This comes on after a while when vehicle is started. And again, no codes when scanning.
Visit to the dealer,or what..?
Thank you for any good advise!
Regards Eos

I’m super new to this thread. And a beginner overall with car maintenance.
I experienced a similar issue today.
I did an oil change and left the cap off while I started my Q5 to check oil levels. Really bad idle and vibration. I put the cap on immediately and that cured the problem. I cleared the faults from the misfires it caused and has been running smooth.
However, I have gotten an ESC warning a few times. But it only seems to happen when I am running scans with OBD11. I get no faults, just the warning. And it only seems to happen when I’m scanning and in park.
I drove to the store and had no issue. But if I run a brake system check with OBD11, I immediately get the ESC warning.
I’m gonna watch it for a few days and see how it goes, but my current assumption is that the scanner reading the system is what causes it and that it’s not actually a fault.
I have never gotten the fault before today and only started when I read the system after my oil change.
I doubt the oil change would cause the system fault to appear and I had driven the car an hour before without getting the fault.

Hello, Recently I purchased an OBDeleven nextgen and from the first scan I received ESC warning on dashboard. Good thing is that it disappears after few seconds, but if I try to access Brake section I receive it again and this time it remains around 1 minute on dashboard. It's quite strange as with VCDS this behaviour is not present. It would be great if someone could explain this error - maybe it's a bug in firmware.
