Has anyone had any luck in permanently disabling the automatic stop/start feature on a late model Audi? I have a 2020 Q3 Prestige 45 TFSI, and nearly had an accident, yesterday, while trying to make a left hand turn, from a dead stop, into a small shopping center. The vehicle hesitated, steering wheel locked, and I became fair game for oncoming drivers. Of course, I usually disable this feature, but this time, I forgot!
Any help greatly appreciated!

lyate: I agree- SS has to be the most dangerous feature in any car that has it installed!! I had a similar experience completing a turn with on-coming traffic - scared the sh#t out of me!! I suspect that there won't be a coding solution that will be available soon - given the changes that have been made to late model Audi/VW cars. For the sake of anyone in the vehicle, I suggest that you buy and fit one of THESEOr you could pay more and buy one of THESE.The Kufatec unit simply plugs into the OBD port (one time only). It's self programming and you can restore SS by re-pluging the dongle again Don

Don: well I was getting ready to order the Kufatec, but saw the following note:
*MQB vehicles from model year 2020 on request, currently no shipping solution
Thinking that it will not work on a 2020 Q3?
Any thoughts appreciated!

Lyate: OK - I wasn't aware that the Kufatec unit was equally affected by the same changes that prohibit the old tweak from working. Not surprising I guess given that both the tweak and the Kufatec unit modify the car's coding!! So, it seems that your ONLY option (at least in the short term) is to use a "physical" device like the eBay product that I suggested earlier. I note that your model vehicle is included on the list of compatible vehicles for the eBay device, but I would confirm with the seller that your build-year was OK.
I designed and installed a much simpler version of this product HERE on a couple of early model MQB vehiclea and they have been working successfully for many years now. I call these devices "physical" because whilst they are electronic in design, they work by automatically simulating the physical act of the driver pressing the native SS disable button (this happens automatically at each ignition switch-on cycle). So these devices aren't subject to any changes in the car's coding that clearly have been made in the latest vehicles to stop the old tweak from working. As long as the car has a physical SS OFF/ON switch, these "physical" devices will work. BUT (and there is always a "but")- the down side is that these devices have to be physically installed in the car by accessing the native SS switch wires. This install task might sound difficult to the un-initiated, but really it's a relatively simple process for anyone with basic DIY and soldering skills. Or, the other option I guess is for you to use an auto electrician for the install task Don

Thank you, Don, for this information! Frankly though, I am wary of making any physical change to my Audi! In the here and now, I may post a stickie, reminding me to turn off ss! Hoping that the future will bring a coding solution.
Thanks again!

I’m unable to disable the start stop system on my A7. The option/app for that is not shown in the OBDeleven app and the manual work around: (Control unit 19 -> Adaptation -> Stop start limit voltage) is not possible because that option (or anything that looks like a voltage limitation) is not present?
Has anyone managed to disable the start stop on a modern Audi?

Turn your wheels in the direction you're waiting to move and Auto S/S won't activate. Only activates when your wheels are straight. I noticed while at a restaurant drive-thru.
