sportsvan: Ok - my apology, but I need to launch into a bit of techno-babble:
The turn-signal lamp in your picture is what VW calls a "repeater" lamp. The repeater lamp on the wing mirrors are directly controlled by the door modules (being the hex 42 and hex 52 modules on the driver and passenger sides respectively).
On MQB platform cars like the mk7/7.5, the turn signal is generated in the steering wheel module (@ address hex44/76) because this is where the turn-signal stalk is fitted.
What happens when you activate the stalk is that the turn-signal message is sent to a number of other modules via the CAN bus. One of these "other" modules that picks-up the turn-signal message is the BCM (the module @ hex09)- this is where the Leuchte-sets that I posted earlier get involved, because the BCM controls the turn-signal lamps on the front and rear of the car. Sometimes Light Control Modules (LCMs) handle the front blinkers on mk7.5 cars.
Another of the modules that pick-up the turn signal message from the CAN bus is the door modules for the purpose of illuminating the repeater lamps - but these modules don't have Leuchte-sets, they are much less sophisticated!
