Hi - can anyone help me?
Have the obd dongle, android phone and all set up. Have a 2016 Golf 7 and would like to set up:
Beep on lock and Traffic Alerts (australia, not on)
Can anyone help a brother out and point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance!

^ ^^^^^ ron: I was so surprised to find a fellow Aussie here that I forgot about your second question! I wrote VCDS instructions for how to enable traffic alerts for Australia HERE (TMC tweak). The translation of these instructions to OBD11 speak shouldn't be too difficult, but here's the central adaptation channel on OBD11 software Don PS: Surprisingly, no security code is needed for this tweak, but make sure that TP and RDS are enabled on the FM radio menu (Australia uses these facilities to transport the traffic data) and reset the MIB unit as described in my instructions.

Thanks for that! I tried the first one and it's not working, so I'll go back to both tomorrow and give them a whirl!

Now for your next problem -I''m surprised that RDS was not set by the dealer because it's a fundamental part of our FM transmission regime. I suspect then that you don't get song information displayed on the screen when listening to FM radio (this info is sent over RDS). So, try this process first: - Press the RADIO button on the media unit escutcheon plate
- Select FM band (bottom LHS screen)
- Select Setup (bottom RHS screen - two cogs)
- If not already there, place a tick in Traffic Program (TP) panel
- Select Advanced Setup (lower RHS screen)
- Place a tick in Radio Data System (RDS) panel
- Exit all screens
If the Radio Data System (RDS) panel is not present in Advanced Setup as per step VI above, then you will need to enable the facility. This is done in the Long Coding section of the Information Control Unit 1 module (at address hex5F). After you have selected coding in the module, scroll-down ( it's 7 pages down on my tablet) until you get the screen shot below. Replicate the settings shown in the yellow boxes and repeat the procedure above

Hey Don - as you're the expert :-), can you tell me if there's a way of turning off the "For Your Own Safety" message that regurly pops up on the screen?

When you make these changes, the value of Byte 23 should be hex00 (for Australia)
You might need to reset the module after you make the changes - not sure on your car

It's ok, I just saw the Information Control Unit 1 - sorry - doh. Only the initial disclaimer was set to on, so I've switched that to off.
Not sure re this - You might need to reset the module after you make the changes - not sure on your car
But see how that goes!
Thank you again!
