Hi!
I am quite a rookie with obdeleven and my first steps include back ups of all data, "just in case".
It is well known at forums that you need yo enter each control unit and perform the backup individually.
But, I've seen an option (at least in version 0.14.3) to perform a full backup. The problem is that once in the history it cannot send ot via email. It is shown the progress of the operation but actually nothing is included in an email message.
Any help?
Thanks.

Once the full backup is complete go to: => Garage => Your car => History => Filter for all full backups or search it => Click on the square with the arrow (see screenshot 1) => Click on the mail icon in the upper right corner (see screenshot 2) => Select gmail or any other email app => Send the email The mail will contain a .txt file with all the backup information. Thanks a lot for your quick answer, however what you suggedted is what I did and the app did just nothing (you can check the video attached). It works great with single ecus backup, after the process, a gmail message ready to be sent. VID-20190918-WA0012.mp4 (999 KB)

Hey guys, read some threads regarding this topic, but either I have´nt seen it or it´s not there yet...
Is it possible to do a FULL BACKUP during a long ride? Any problems?
Thanks.

OBD11 Needs good internet connection so its possible on a long trip you may not have this all the time so may cause issues

Thanks for your quick reply =) So it would be better to do it after a long ride in front of the garage.
Have a nice day.

You dont need to do a long ride (other than enjoying your car) when you have some spare time just do it. Or you can do them one buy one if you dont want to spend all that time doing them all in one go.

Hi, so doing the backup is possible while the engine is running?
I did a scan during driving and it came up with alot of "could not access" errors. While scanning the multimedia control unit I lost the radio for a moment. I redit it a bit later with the ignition on without engine running, and everything was ok again.
My concern was, as the backup takes a lot of time, that I couldn't do it while driving (maybe i would have gotten a backup with faulty variables). I don't want to plug the batterie if I don't need to.
As I have a quite good 4G connection, I would guess that I have no problem doing the backup then while cruising around.
Thanks alot

I have not seen a definitive answer but in my experience running a scan with engine on will bring back lots of errors that go away when running on ignition only.
Personally I do scans with ignition on only.
You should also be aware that if you start doing anything with ignition on and then start the car it drops the connection between the phone and the car but does not if engine on and then drop to ignition only - Bug has been reported.
The full backup does take a lot of time so you can do it over a period of time by doing one control unit at a time (some are very very quick as they are tiny).
The problem with all mobile connection is it very much depends on where you live. If you live in a big city there will be lots of Mast's to keep a perfect connection however if (like me) you live further out and dont have lots and lots of mast's it is possible to drop connections, but you give it a go and see what happens.

Are there some plans to include snapshot for all live parameters per for
"Car backup and programming history" feature ?

I'd like to have snapshoot of all current values for all paramters from live data (a.k.a measuring values). Later it will be usefull, I think for various comparison for instance at idle. how car ages, wiil change its parameters values when engine is cold/hot or event compare as reference with others cars. I made a post with question about it on obd11 FB and someone from the team respond, that right now this not supported but they will consider it during planning for next versions...

mirah Firstly I do not know the full answer. What I can say is that currently the only way you can extract live data via an .csv file is via the chart process. The issue with this is its accuracy is limited to something like 16 parameters (because more works but the overload on the interface means non accurate time data. However if you are offline you can see (eg look at) live data and some of it is recorded but I have not yet had a confirmation of what time point that data is. The big issue for me for your requirement is that on my MQB Platform there are over 1800 data items so a lot of those you would not want check out my request here forum.obdeleven.com/thread/6980/live-data-charts for some data. I also have raised issues on the quality of the data forum.obdeleven.com/thread/7809/live-data-issues on my car its not a big deal but to be fair I have not had time to check all of the data.

testeronline,
I aware that there is an option to track paramters of your wish by record them in csv file for certain time. As you said you can't record them all, this too much for protocol/ device speed etc. Also, Yes offline access to controller, then to refering to its past history i mean live paramters, adaptation etc.... is a little bit closer to my idea. But still, this need manual selection parameters, firstly. My point with snapshoot approach is that you will get on your demand/request all live data captured at once in same time (well almost at same time). I dont believe that implementing this will required ton of codes. To be honset this is same or simiar concept as you create a backup of current adapations in given/selected module. Its browse all paramters and save it value, one by one ( p1;value1; <CRLF> p2;value2; <CRLF> etc.) Thats it! not a rocket science

mirah if it's what you want put the details in the request section and hopefully after they have sorted IOS, Connections Issues and a few other big bugs they can start to add some extra value to the tool. Just for my information what sort of data would you want to collect.

testeronline, Why I need it ? well......this will be excellent to review, analyze and do various of type forensic before buying a used car. On last spring I searched for used seat leon cupra, and I got few cars that I could pick, and manually typing each parameter to live log just for snapshotting was a nightmare! Having a snaphoot file that contains all data will be a lot easier, you see everything in one file and could easily compare with others. That's it! EDIT: Today I went to car and i checked that upon creating Backup, there is a possibility to grab live data. Data can be then browsed offline on the phone. Either tru offline control module or thru history directly. The only missing function is to export it to email or other file share in order to have it on PC. Right now only exported module adaptations and identification data

But as you say this info is not included in the email extract, as a one off its possible to extract doing continus screen dump but no good for the use you have in mind.
But what I will say is during my testing of the backup function the live data count has been very unreliable (just looking at the number of them not the data) so be warned. Example on my last full backup the DSG Gearbox showed 5 live data items, but in reality there are 113 on my car.
Many people have asked for the Live Data and Chart process to be modified to save the extract criteria so you can run the same thing multiple times but I now better understand what you are after.

testeronlineThanks for your remarks, from time to time I saw some obd11 other instability (I had older version of obd11 white box), I can live with it . Never there less this is good tool for such price, and development team continuously is trying to improve it. Yes, I agree heaving a selected parameters as save list, for later logging will be also very handy. I saw this need in post forum.obdeleven.com/thread/5833/retaining-logging-parameters-future-session , people there are really wish to have it. What we can do now, is to believe those enhancement are putted indeed on features roadmap for next releases/versions
