lenny: Hi - cute picture! I have no idea how the Start Stop (SS) App works, but I suspect that it targets the adaptation channel Deactivation of start-stop function . As many VCDS cable users (me included) have discovered, altering this channel has the effect that you have observed - SS is disabled until the ignition is re-energized, then SS is re-enabled! If I were you I would give the App a miss! Instead, why don't you implement the tweak manually - but instead use the "voltage method" to disable SS? The "voltage method" tweak goes something like this: - Select Gateway - 19
- Select Adaptation
- Select Start/stop start voltage limit
- Change existing value from 7.6 V to 12.1
- Exit Software, switch ignition off/on and Start Stop should be permanently off (and you have saved yourself the credits)
Don
PS: This tweak works by tricking the SS system into thinking that the battery voltage isn't high enough to re-start the car once the engine is stopped - so it won't switch-off the engine in the first instance. Changing the voltage value in the adaptation channel above does not effect any other aspect of the car's electrical system. Of course, you will get an error message " Power consumption is high" if you look in the SS menu and you will get the dreaded A symbol with a slash on the MFD when the car comes to a stop - this is normal! If you don't want these "tells", then just build and install an Auto SS Kill Switch which I designed about two years ago. I've been using mine for about two years and it hasn't missed a beat! Costs about $20 AUD and easy to build and install - details below Auto Start Stop Kill Switch - Instructions

I had the same problem. It worked once and then came back as usual. However the 10 credits spent did not come back. I find the app and device very good, but if an app does not do the intended job , doesn't seems like fair to get a refund? Will try the other way, but I purchased credits specifically to save myself the hassle of programing...
Edit: After turning the car on the day after I did tha changes the ON/Off system was disabled at startup, and has kept working fine so far.

Start stop app was updated at 2016-10-12 so now it must work fine. To update apps go to My car apps > go back and then go to apps again.

How does it work, does it reverse the function or does it disables Start Stop. I would like a solution where it just reverse the function, so I can enable it if I get stuck in traffic.

Rasmus: Only Admin can describe the exact changes that are made when the SS App is used, but I suspect that the App modifies the code-string on the Gateway module to simulate PR-7L3 (which is VW's PR code for Start/Stop System NOT installed). If you are interested in specifics, I'm guessing that the App changes Byte 3, Bit 2-3 from hex04 to hex08 and Byte 4, Bit 0 is changed to 0 and Byte 15, Bit 0 is changed to 0. Alas- I don't believe that these changes allow the driver to easily re-enable SS "if you get stuck in traffic" (happy for Admin to correct my understanding). If you want SS to default to OFF but still be able to re-enabled it later in the journey, then I suggest that you use an alternative solution - just build and install one of these: The Auto Start Stop Kill Switch is easy to build and install - I've been using this device for over two years now and it hasn't failed once. Every time that I turn-on the ignition, SS is automatically turned-off and I can re-engage the facility if I want ( not that I have ever done this). Instructions HEREDon

Thank you for a very detailed answer :-).
I have posted a new message in the Passat B8 forum, it seems like it is possible to reverse the Start/Stop. Maybe you could use that for a future app.
Regards Rasmus
