hmm........... that's a courageous retrofit for a MY14 Golf!!! I would have thought that the MIB unit in a MY14 was version 1 - is it?

tyler1224: G'day cobber!!! No I don't - retrofitting a virtual cockpit (which is really a project about physically modifying the Dashboard module) is a very non-OEM project. I've not personally done this, but I would have thought that it would be highly dependent on the supplier of the new equipment. Don

So contrary to what was stated earlier. Everything i have read and understood if you have MIB2, you either buy the conversion kit or used parts. neither have to be modified from factory VW parts, no cutting or modifying.
If you buy second hand online retailer, it might not be a VW part, but ECS sells factory screen kits.
as far as coding, I read the dealership has to pretty much do the install as to change the mileage with ODIS, and they have to "unlock" and remove component protection.
after that its done. no cutting or modifying dash, as newer mk7 comes with virtual

shaniqua : Hi and welcome - and thank you for your first post on this forum
hmm...... "contrary to what was stated earlier"? I've absolutely no doubt about the validity of your findings - congratulations on completing this research and well done for sharing your conclusions with other members (that's exactly the purpose of forums like this). Now, I'm more than happy to be corrected and there are many, many (very many) instances on this forum where my ramblings have been wrong. I have no problem when this happens -corrected errors are a wonderful learning environment and the only members that are never wrong are those members that never write posts) However, I believe that any author of a post on this forum has a right of reply when someone intimates an error. It is with this express purpose (and with no other motivation) that I invite that you consider the following:
Please re-read the original post in this thread - notice that OP's car is an MY14 Golf and although not confirmed by the author, this model car would almost certainly have a factory installed MIB1 unit. Again, I'm more than happy to be corrected - but I am very, very (extremely) confident that the ONLY 2 x components that were designed to interface with MOST protocol on MIB1 units were the external amplifier (J325) and a TV option (for the Japanese market). And also look at your conclusion and compare it my words (like "courageous" and "highly dependent on the supplier of the new equipment") to describe the nature of this DIY project. IMO, these descriptors don't sound too different to your findings (particularly given that a dealer needs to manage CP errors, Key programming, Mileage restoration, Immobilizer errors etc). And finally - look at the date of the original thread 21 August 2019!!. Yes, more than 3 years prior to your amazing revelation!! Don
