First time user.
Was hoping for an app to disable my DRLs for my MK5 JSW.
Is this possible?
Any other way?
Thanks in advance.

so you are saying this ODB11 app does'nt have the option to disable DRL ? does the dongle work with VAG-COM ?

OBDeleven does have the option to disable DRL. There is even the option under the APP category for the MK5 Golf
The dongle is intentionally designed NOT to work with VAG-COM. You can however look at the ROSS-TECH wiki page for the step by step instruction to code your various control modules and use your OBDeleven dongle to do it.

Great, I have ordered one, thanks a bunch! rare on VW boards that anyone answers a question straightforward.

Great, I have ordered one Which one did you order? We are all here to help one another in resolving all issues from the Volkswagen Automotive Group. OBDeleven is a really good affordable alternative to the more expensive VCDS tool. The device pays for itself after the first use. The independence you feel being able to troubleshoot issues yourself will be worth it.

From Deutcha Auto Parts, DAP, . I will join the board then. can't wait to turn those DRL's off. Just weird why someone would steer someone to something that is not relative to ODB11.

I get the feeling that you misunderstood my last response. ODBeleven and VCDS are both great tools that I use to to troubleshoot car issues.
Would you rather me take and post a screenshot of the DRL option in VCDS, so that you can implement the same in OBDeleven? The options in OBDeleven is the same as VCDS. The catch is that not all bytes / channels / adaptations may be currently labelled in OBDeleven.

These were 2 options that I saw for my car. The options would be the same for you as well if you have a MK5/MK5/Audi A3 chassis. This is in the CENTRAL ELECTRONICS module (you have 3 sub modules to play with) look at the options in my screenshot

If it's just the DRL that you are concerned about, then the OBDeleven team was nice to develop a quick shortcut to automating the toggling of that feature for the MK5. When you get your dongle, you would simply connect it to your OBD2 port, pair it with your phone (not the app just yet), open the app on your phone (pair that with the app this time).
In the mobile app, there is a feature called APPS which has a list use useful shortcuts (like a script) that would automatically toggle things like the DRL (so you wouldn't even need my VCDS screenshot to begin with).

I was able to select DRL off in the App ,but it did not take, said " value not changed" Shows I have 12 credits, this is a 10 credit feature no? Thanks for all your patience.

I understand what you mean now. Yes. it is indeed a 10 credit feature. You will have to toggle all the settings manually then when you get your dongle shipped to you.

not supported, thats why. going the long coding route , looks like bit 4 (position5) to 00 on the bottom screen shot then, no?

You are most welcome. I just wished there was a way to import the VCDS label files in OBDeleven so you can see what Bits and Bytes you are playing with.

I just did some coding on the car, at first I had set the turn signal has DRL with the app feature , then I went to code some stuff with this link : www.vaglinks.com/Docs/VW/MKV/DPham00.info_VW_MKV_VAGCOM_Tweaks_And_Info.pdf and now, I don't have DRL. I went on the app feature, try to put it back but now it says it is not supported ... Does anybody would know how to get the feature back ?

First, ADMIN would have to tell you how the steps that the DRL APP were done so that you can undo this yourself.
You have the DRL option of using either the headlights or foglights.
You also have the DRL option to work with the handbrake on or off (I can't remember which one). I'll look at my DRL options and send them to your e-mail tomorrow.

Well actually , I just saw that the app mention it set the turn signal as position light, not DRL . I had in mind that they would have become DRL but yeah never mind . Everything works great.
Thank you for your help.

This is in the CENTRAL ELECTRONICS module (you have 3 sub modules to play with) look at the options in my screenshot Nice write up! I'm actually trying to figure out how to increase the DRL dimming to a full 100%. I noticed in your screenshot that it's set to a 92% by default. I have recently upgraded to OEM HID's and don't want to disable DRL since it's illegal here, so instead I want to increase the voltage so that my ballasts don't die on me. How would I do that through long coding via my OBDeleven? It seems like I may need to go to Byte 20 but which bit do I change there? Sorry for the noob question lol

I think the factory 92% in my case was to prolong the life of my bulbs.
100% in binary is : 1100100 You would have to tick and untick the bits in that fashion to get it (I'm not sure if it is ascending or descending). You can look at your existing coding to tell you which way you are to go.
