Hello
2007 Passat B6 2.0 TDI (automatic, BKP engine)
I have the pro version of OBDeleven, but I don't really know how to use it. Can someone please explain how I might be able to test whether by fuel pump is working correctly using this device?
The problem I am experiencing is the car stalling/engine turning itself off intermittently. Today when approaching a junction, on three separate occasions, it starts to "struggle" and then stalls, and it happens whether the engine is hot or cold. When it stalls, it might start again straight away, other times I have to keep turning the engine over for 5-6 seconds and feathering the throttle until it starts again, sometimes 5 or 6 attempts. Once it's started again, it generally revs freely and if I manually turn off the engine it starts again right away (hot or cold). Sometimes at idle it is a bit "lumpy" (but still revs alright). Earlier it stalled itself whilst idling, and in recent weeks has sometimes stalled as I begin to drive away, again it is intermittent. When it is running fine, it pulls well, no smoke, no issues at all.
EML did not come on, but a scan revealed error code P0321 (passive) which I gather from Googling can be a whole raft of things. People seem to suggest fuel filter, crank sensor or cam sensor. I think given the symptoms it most likely a bad fuel pump but before I start spending money on it i'd like to test as much as possible.
Edit: just read that it may be a faulty injector - but I would have thought a misfire on cylinder x error code would be present?
Thanks for any insight/help.
