My gas tank is full but the gauge is reading one bar below full. Is there any way to reset this?

My gas tank is full but the gauge is reading one bar below full. Is there any way to reset this? '15 S3 Not so much "reset", but you can "re-calibrate" the reading. Assuming "'15 S3" in your country is built on a MQB platform - try this:
- Go to dashboard module @ address hex17
- go to security access
- enter the magic number 20103
- go to adaptation
- search for "Offset for tank calibration values" and select Complete tank calibration
- Adjust as desired
Range is -12.8 to +8. -12.8l is the factory default. reducing (more negative) value moves the needle down (each -1 moves needle about 3mm to the left). increasing (less negative) value moves the needle up (each +1 moves needle about 3mm to the right) So, for your case increase the value - I guess

Don thanks DV52. i have done some research but could't find my answear yet, would you know if that same procedure would work on a 2018 Golf R ? if not, what would be the alternative, my fuel gauge is reading 1/4 still but my car is runing out of fuel. thank you

I have been trying many times but it won't work.
first I use the 25327 password and the login works succesfully. but after that, when I try to change the number on 'the offset 1' and/or 'the complete tank calibration' and validate it, I either have the '(31) Fonction not available ' or its asking for the login code over and over without performing the change.
I tried to clear the cache of OBD eleven om my device and also change the setting to VW diagnostic, nothing sees to work.
anyhting you think would help?
thank you

wonderful, it worked ! thank you so much. I have seen you helping out so many people online. you are a legend !
only the Offset sensor 1 work. the full tank calibration still not working for any value I typed.
for the Offset sensor 1 ,initial value is -12.7 but i can only change it from -8L to +12.7L. it did adjust more or less like i wanted, but i can not put back the initial value for some reason, it would give the (31) fonction not available.

xsigierx , how well did this end up working? Has anyone else tried making adjustments to the tank calibration values to calibrate their fuel level gauge? I had a Walbro 450 fuel pump installed along with an multi-port injection kit in my 2017 S3 (making it flex fuel with a UM tune). Afterwards, my fuel gauge reads low — after a fill-up, it shows 3/4 (i.e. 6 of 8 bars). I ran the gas down until the "add gas" warning came up, then filled up and the car only took about 8.5gallons (tank capacity is 14.5gal). So I found this thread (and a few other similar ones) about calibrating the fuel level gauge/sensor. I tried changing values for both the full tank calibration or the offset sensor 1 values. They were both at -12.80. The range is supposed to be -12.80 to +8.0 per post above, but xsigierx wrote that he found it to actually be -8 to +12.7. I wanted to bump my fuel gauge upwards, so I tried adding 2 (-12.80 + 2 = -10.80). I attempted to enter -10.80, but it was out of range. -11.80 also didn't work. I tried with both the full tank and offset sensor 1, same results. I didn't try offset sensor 2, 3 or 4. Because xsigierx said he wasn't able to go back to the initial value after changing it, I didn't try entering a higher number like -8 or -6. BTW, for the record. for my car (2017 S3) the security code 20103 worked. Does anyone have any feedback or suggestions on this issue? dv52 (Australia), Don, wondering if you had any thoughts on this? Much appreciated!

OK, I seem to have figured it out for my car. Googling around, I found another post by dv52 (Australia) on another forum that you’re supposed to enter between -8 to +8 as the desired offset amount for re-calibration. I was originally trying to do the math myself on the value (e.g. -12.8 + 2.0 = -10.8) and enter that. I guess my fuel gauge was pretty far off, as here’s what I had to do. I filled up the gas tank, then started changing values: 1) Complete tank calibration: originally -12.80. Entered 8.00 (max). Fuel gauge didn’t change. However, when I checked the fuel level value, it had increased by 6%. 2) Offset sensor 1: originally -12.80. Entered 8.00 (max). Fuel gauge increased by one bar. The fuel level value increased by 20%. 3) Offset sensor 2: originally -12.80. Making changes had no effect on the fuel gauge display or fuel level value. 4) Offset sensor 3 and 4: Unable to change values. So, then I changed Complete tank calibration and Offset sensor 1 at the same time, both to the max of 8.00. The fuel gauge then showed all 8 bars as it should, and the fuel level value increased by 26%. Success! Now, I’ll monitor it to make sure the gauge and fuel level decrease as it should as I drive around. Hope this helps someone else in the same situation!

lpk75: Hi. The cars on this part of the forum have a MQB build platform. An Audi A4 B9 is built on a MLB evo platform - very different. Maybe ask your question on the other part of the forum Don

I have a 2015 Q5 3.0 TDI and my issue is my fuel gauge shows more fuel than I have as of 2 month ago It takes about 160 miles before the needle moves and at just over 1/4 tank shown it takes more than 17 gal. If -12.8 is the lowest value and the default how do I lower it further What is my magic number Haven't tried anything yet but thanks for any help.

Hi. Thanks for being there. I've a 2016 Tiguan, and have found OBDEleven to be invaluable. I'm not new to auto repair.
Please excuse my off-brand question: Is there any chance OBDEleven will work to calibrate the fuel gauge on a Subaru (2014 Outback 2.5 CVT Premium)? I'm just after Gauge-Full/Empty corresponding to fuel tank reality. Any breadcrumbs you can share? Or alternatives to bending the float rod and checking the gauge?
Thanks in advance.
Respectfully yours.

With regards to Subaru all OBD11 Offers is basic OBD2 Diagnostics there are no one click apps or coding possibilities I am afraid.
