Quick question. I have a B9 S4. I have enabled some things through the easy Adaptation menu. I want to enable Auto Opening when Approaching (I also see when leaving...curious if my car will auto lock if I detects me moving away but we will see.) This setting is in the Long Coding menu. My understanding is OBD11 has a "noob long coding menu" (you still get a list with relatively self explanatory settings per module) and true coding (0s and 1s.)
This particular setting is in the Noob Long Coding. I go into comfort settings for key, and I can find the thing I need to change to Activated. Problem is unlike Adaptations, where I green check THE SPECIFIC CHANGE, long coding looks like I can make a change, but the green check is at the screen that lists ALL settings for that module.
I am worried I will write ALL settings, and worried it will wrongfully activate or deactivate stuff I dont want. Or is OBD11/Audi smart enough where it only actually writes what I changed, despite the green checkmark making it look like I am going to (re)commit all these settings?
If it does recommit, is it that big of a deal as its my understanding OBD11 is showing me Active/Non-active based on what it is reading from the car, so technically speaking it would write all settings, just most would be the same except for my one change?
Not to brain dump, but I will...: This still worries me, as I have seen some long coding settings that dont match what my car has- like tilt mirror is '"Not active" even though I know I have it active. Or Horn beep when locking is active when I know its actually not (I get a chirp.) I know some things need multiple settings set. Is OBD11 ONLY showing me stuff it has READ from the car, and I am just seeing "messy code" left over from Audi programmers, etc...?

Sorry this is not my car but to be clear.
When you go to long coding you by default go into view 0 which I call the shortcut version.
So are you saying that the settings shown here are incorrect.

Yes I believe so. I think it's called long coding UDS? And I am not sure if its incorrect. I dont know if OBD11 loaded settings and their values itself based on car model, or if its truly showing me what the module reported back to it. If it is just showing what literally the car has set already then I think it should be ok.

I would expect it to show you what it has got from the ECU.
Can you post up a screen shot, might help me understand what you are seeing.
If you dont know how to just hit the Reply button on the top right of the screen and then in the new screen use the Add Image to post

This may be totally benign (again, could just be how audi has set this setting out of the factory knowing it wont actually do anything), there IS a setting in there I want to change (open when approaching), just want to confirm all the other settings are coming from my car, and changing one thing should just change that one thing, and wont write a bunch of wrong settings for all the other things listed, as they are coming from the car, not the app defaulting vaule.

I see what you are talking about but the first question I have to ask is do you actually have control unit 46 Central Module Comfort System as I thought this had now been migrated into the Control Unit 09 Central Electronics (well it has on my 2014 car).
I notice you have a redstatus which means error what is the error showing on this control unit.

The odb11 wiki mentions this setting is in this module. I noticed a few faults when I did my first scan with the car 3 days old from delivery. Databus missing message is the faults. Sound benign? The car and it's systems seems to be working fine.

can you post your history file. i think you have added a control unit your car does not have. mighy be wrong but the more modern mqb platform cars dont use control unit 46 Central Module Comfort System anymore

Also I was able to change to 4 blinks of comfort turn signals through mod46 so I think it's still used

OK I am tied up today but will give this a look tonight, If you have made some changes to this control unit your setup is different to mine but I will have a look and see if I can spot anything.

Sorry stuff going on at the moment i promise I will have a look at this by the weekend. No problem I checked more and ensured I backed up before changing. Car now unlocks as I get close to it. 🙃 I am going to pull down my links as I think I was under the impression that once obd11 reads a module it saves the values in a way you could look at them offline. Not the case. It shoots some kind of default values. Connecting to car then looking at long coding shows values I would expect I think. Anyways I can confirm at least for 2019 this setting works.
