Hey,
I'm trying to figure out how to change my brake light configuration so that all of the lights come on while braking. The current setup has the outer brake lights and the upper middle light, but the inner brake lights don't come on.
Is there an app in OBDeleven Pro or do I have to enter it in manually through a coding sequence?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Marty

Might help if you tell people what lights you have

The stock brake lights. I've watched a few videos on having the inner brake lights come on when applying the brakes. I know there's long coding for it, but I was looking for an app on OBDeleven Pro.

Ok as far as I’m aware there is 2 different lights available the dynamic and normal
This is one is normal and it only has one set of LED’s fitted on one side (off side on mine) which is the fog light theres also no wires on the near side along with no LED’s and to be honest the LED’s (Fog) look rubbish so it’s not physically possible to have the 5 break light mod on these
This is is the dynamic and to be honest I’ve not looked into it, sorry so haven’t a clue to which ones standard, as they did put early 7.5 R’s out without dynamic

Important premise: I agree with vwjap, it’s not physically possible to have the 4 break light mod like in the MK7 because the internal part of the headlights of all MK7.5 cannot emit an high light level like the external part where there are LEDs dedicated for the brakes. If you have the basic led lights read here tools.0xff.com.ar/vag/vcds-vw-golf-mk7.html#tweak-c734f91d-d697-46f3-a4d6-0deaa4a9a4faif you have the dynamic blinker you can do this: Module 09 (Central Electrics) Security access -> 31347 Adaptation Submenu - Leuchte23SL HLC10 - Lichtfunktion D 23 - value Bremslicht - Dimmwert CD 23 - value 127 Submenu - Leuchte24SL HRA65 - Lichtfunktion D 24 - value Bremslicht - Dimmwert CD 24 - value 127
You can also turn on the lights and those on the license plate when you open the trunk, the change applies to both types of headlights:
Module 09 (Central Electrics) Security access -> 31347 Adaptation Submenu - Leuchte23SL HLC10 (luce di posizione posteriore sinistra esterna con led basic o intero faro con i led dinamici) - Lichtfunktion C 23 - value Heckdeckel offen - Dimmwert CD 23 - value 127 Submenu - Leuchte24SL HRA65 (luce di posizione posteriore destra esterna con led basic o intero faro con i led dinamici) - Lichtfunktion C 24 - value Heckdeckel offen - Dimmwert CD 24 - value 127 Submenu - Leuchte25KZL HA59 (luci targa) - Lichtfunktion B 25 - value Heckdeckel offen

Looking for any updates since I am trying to do the same as the OP. I can get the whole (inner and outer) light to blink for turn signals, but I can't get the same areas (inners and outers) to light up for brakes. Seems like it should work if they'll blink for signals.

hansnc : Hi. First, and as vwjap says - it's important to separate factory fitted LED tail lights from factory fitted incandescent tail-lights. The required coding changes are different for each type of fitting!! Problem is that even knowing the type of fitting - not ALL mk7/mk7.5 tail lights on every vehicle that has been sold in every market around the world are factory coded the same (alas). So, my normal response to these types for questions is to first establish how the outer tail-light lamps (i.e. the Brake light) has been factory coded on the car - because this determines the starting point for any coding changes. It's normally sufficient to look at the factory coding on just one side of the car because the coding values on the other side can be deduced from these values.
Post up screenshots of the factory setting for Leuchte20BR LA71 which is the left-side outer tail light (Brake). To be clear, I need to see ALL 19 x adaptation channels for this Leuchte-set!

lidaize: Hi I'm not familiar with that particular version of tail-lights (VW have lots of different options) - are they incandescent, or LED type? And what lighting functions do the arrowed lamps normally perform? And, if the arrowed lamps are used for Parking-Light (PL) - are you prepared to dim the lamps for this function? Think about what needs to happen if the arrowed lamps operate as both Brake and PL. At night when the PL is switched-ON, the lamps will illuminate at full intensity. However, when the Brake pedal is pushed, there will be no change to the lamp operation. So drivers in the cars at the rear won't know by looking at these lamps that the brake pedal has been pushed (of course the existing brake light will illuminate). The way to solve this problem is to dim the PL illumination level so that the Brake function fully illuminates the lamp. Don

They are stock LED.
Yes, The both park light inner and outer will illumination when I turn the headlight on, like night mode.
I'm looking for let the inner and outer park light illumination with the brake light together when I press the brake pedal in day time mode. I tried with the taillight as brake lights on click, still only brake light illumination.
Still not idea how to make it work.

OK - post-up screenshots of the following Leuchte-sets: - Leuchte23SL HLC10
- Leuchte16BLK SLB35BLK SL KC9
- Leuchte20BR LA71
To be clear - I need to see the values of ALL 19 x adaptation channels for each Leuchte-set

OK - thanks for the screenshots (very well organize!). Just a few more questions to ensure that these are the correct Leuchte-sets: Leuchte23SL HLC10 and Leuchte16BLK SLB35BLK SL KC9
These seem to be good candidate Leuchte-sets - but I note that both lights have been programmed with the "Heckdeckel offen" command! This lighting function in the Leuchte-sets is odd and it doesn't look like a factory setting because it uses a strange Dimmwert value.
- Was this a tweak that was implemented post factory build?
- The "Heckdeckel offen" command illuminates the lamp when the boot lid is open - do the 2 x arrowed lights turn-ON when the boot-lid is open?
- If so, why apply this tweak to the inner-arrowed light (since this light is pointing skyward when the boot is open)?
Leuchte20BR LA71 Currently this Brake light doesn't operate as a PL. Given that you want to add the Brake light function to the 2 x arrowed lamps, it seems that factory Brake-light should operate the same as the other Brake-lights (i.e. it should illuminate at a dimmed value when the PL is switched-on).

Many thanks Don, about some of the channels change I believe done by the one click app like "taillight as brake light"/ "thrid brake light" etc. , so not sure whats the original value they are.
Leuchte23SL HLC10 and Leuchte16BLK SLB35BLK SL KC9
1. I have no idea about the "Heckdeckel offen", maybe change by the one click app.
2. Yes, when I did use the one click app to make the taillight light up when boot lid is open.
3. I didn't adjust any or tweak manually yet, everything I've done were by the one click app.
Leuchte20BR LA71
- when pl switched-on with low beam (as night driving mode), if I brake, the two arrowed parking lamps looks the same as not step on the brake. The only different is with brake light or without brake light.
Over All atm, the pl and headlight on (night driving mode) are working as what I want, just strugglling the day time mode when the pl switched-off, how to light up with the brake light when in brake.
BTW, there is one thing i'm confuse, according to the tweaks sheet, there is a list below "LED MK7.5 Tail-lights: Use both inner and outer tail-lights for brakes" table, which show different Leuchte number (I did copied in below)? Are they different to mine MK7.5 light?
Security Access Codes: 31347
(1) Leuchte23SL HLC10 = Left-side Outer Tail-light.
(2) Leuchte24SL HRA65 = Right-side Outer Tail-light.
(3) Leuchte16BLK SLB35BLK SL KC9 = Right-side Inner Tail-light.
(4) Leuchte17TFL R BLK SRB3TFL R BLK SR KC3 = Left-side Inner Tail-light.

OK -the One-click-Apps (OCAs) that you have implemented in the past might be a problem with the Brake-light changes that you want - because I'm not sure what changes have been made.
I'm still not sure which Leuchte-sets control the "arrowed-lights" in your picture - but maybe give this a try:
On the left car-side:
Leuchte23SL HLC10 and Leuchte16BLK SLB35BLK SL KC9
- Lasttyp > 34 - LED Bremsleuchten
- Lichtfunktion A > Bremslicht
- Lichtfunktion B > nicht aktiv
- Dimmwert AB > 100
- Lichtansteuerung HD AB > Always
- Lichtfunktion C > Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)
- Lichtfunktion D > Parklicht links (beidseitiges Parklicht aktiviert li & re)
- Dimmwert CD > 10
On the right car-side: Leuchte24SL HRA65 and Leuchte17TFL R BLK BLK SRB3TFL R SR KC3
- Lasttyp > 34 - LED Bremsleuchten
- Lichtfunktion A > Bremslicht
- Lichtfunktion B > nicht aktiv
- Dimmwert AB > 100
- Lichtansteuerung HD AB > Always
- Lichtfunktion C > Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht; Positionslicht; Begrenzungslicht)
- Lichtfunktion D > Parking light right
- Dimmwert CD > 10

Hey Don, you are the hero! these four lights all working as brake light now. Lucky that i'm not a lady, otherwise I already crashed on you! Really appreciate ! There is two questions 1. about the turn signal, My "top brake light" and "brake light" were only illumination when brake applied and trunk open. After I turn urban joke one click app to off, both of these two light illuminate when indicator on. 2. After these setting, my park lights (those 4 parking light are not illumination when trunk opened). If I use the "tail lights ON when trunk open" one click app again and set to ON, lights on when trunk open works, however thoes four parking light is completed off when turn low beam on (like night mode), even I brake they still off. Do you have any idea to solve this issue?

Hey Don, you are the hero! these four lights all working as brake light now. Lucky that i'm not a lady, otherwise I already crashed on you! Really appreciate ! haha........ yes - it is lucky indeed. I have the greatest respect for the opposite gender (I reckon our lonely blue planet would be in much better condition if ruled by females)- but I'm very happy to be male !! 2. After these setting, my park lights (those 4 parking light are not illumination when trunk opened). If I use the "tail lights ON when trunk open" one click app again and set to ON, lights on when trunk open works, however those four parking light is completed off when turn low beam on (like night mode), even I brake they still off. Do you have any idea to solve this issue? OK - there are 2 x issues in your words:
Lamps turn-ON with low-beam: - this is the Parking-Light (PL) function: As I said in my previous reply, when I added the Brake-light function to these 4 x lamps - I needed to impose a difference in illumination level between the Brake-light and PL function so drivers at the rear of this car could distinguish between the 2 x light functions.
I did this by separating the Brake-light and PL functions in the Leuchte-sets (doesn't matter if you don't understand how I did this). Anyhow, with my suggested changes, the illumination of the PL function for the 4 x lamps is controlled by the value of Dimmwert CD.
I made a guess in my suggested changes of a suitable dimming value for the PL function - but it may be too low for your particular LED lamps. So, to fix the PL illumination - simply increase the value of Dimmwert CD on the 4 x lamps. But I caution that you err on the conservative side - meaning that this value should NOT be too high else the tail light lamps won't sufficiently distinguish between the Brake-light and PL functions! To ensure the correct PL illumination, experiment with various Dimmwert CD values during night-time conditions
Lamps turn-ON when boot is open: Again as I indicated in my previous reply, there seems to be no benefit in illuminating the inner lamp on the boot lid when the boot is open (because the lamps on the boot-lid will light-up the sky!). And again, my suggestion is that you don't use One-Click-Apps because they make unknown changes to your car. Instead do this:
According to your earlier post
- Leuchte23SL HLC10 = Left-side Outer Tail-light.
- Leuchte24SL HRA65 = Right-side Outer Tail-light.
Make these changes to 2 x Leuchte-sets above: - Lichtfunktion E > Heckdeckel offen
- Dimmwert EF > 100

Yeah! I almost understand each of the lichtfunktion stand for now. I did changed E and EF for all of the 4 lamps, they all working when trunk open! I will never ever trust one click app anymore! Haha, I think you missed my first question? 1. When I use turn signal indicator light, My "top brake light" continues on, and "brake light" flashing with indicator light. Is there any way to keep indicator light flashing ONLY?Updated: I changed the Leuchte 22BR MA57 - Lichtfunktion B22 -> not active , the top brake light not on with turn signal indicator now (not sure if is the correct way?). But the brake lights still flashing with turn signal

lidaize : hmm......I had to re-read your initial post to confirm that like me, you come from a land down-under (where women glow and men chunder )!
Given our location- cars sold in our market MUST comply with the Australian Design Rules (ADR). These local regulations mean that cars sold in Australia are VW's Rest-of-world (RoW) models. However, the ADR does NOT generally comply with VW's North-America-Region (NAR) models.
The reason for explaining these things is because AFAIK, the ONLY country regulations that permit a vehicle's red-colored Brake-lights to also operate as turn-signal lights is for incandescent tail-lights on NAR models.
I suggest that you consider these matters if you want to add the turn-signal function to the Brake-light lamp on an Australian car
However, it's not my role on this forum to restrict your choices. Of course it's entirely your decision if you want to proceed - meaning that it's entirely your responsibility and it's entirely your accountability!
Leuchte20BR LA71 - Lasttyp 20 > 35 - kombinierte LED Blink-Bremsleuchten
- Lichtfunktion B 20 > Blinken links Hellphase
If you want the Brake-light to counter-blink with the yellow turn-signal lamp, change 2 above to: - Lichtfunktion B 20 > Blinken links Dunkelphase
Leuchte21BR RC8 Lasttyp 21 > 35 - kombinierte LED Blink-Bremsleuchten Lichtfunktion B 21 > Blinken rechts Hellphase
If you want the Brake-light to counter-blink with the yellow turn-signal lamp, change 2 above to: - Lichtfunktion B 21 > Blinken rechts Dunkelphase

Hi Don, after I did the setting above you mentioned, the brake light still blink if I brake (when indicator still on), is there any way to make the brake light static (like those 2 park light) when indicator on? 3333.mp4 (407.88 KB)

lidaize : I'm mighty confused!! In your screenshot of the settings for Leuchte20BR LA71 that you posted earlier, the ONLY lighting function (Lichtfunktion) that was programmed into the Brake lamp was the Brake-light - meaning that the Leuchte-set was NOT programmed to illuminate as a turn-signal! Have a look at your screenshots:
So - I read your words to mean that you wanted to add the turn-signal function to the brake lights. But it now appears (I think) that you want the opposite!!!
OK - reverse the changes that I suggested in my last reply!
AND check that the adaptation channel in the central electrics module Aussenlicht_Heck-Bremslicht_ist_auch_Blinklicht (which translated means "Outside light - rear brake light_is_also_indicator light) has the value no

I'm not sure about the adaptation channel change - but the Leuchte-set changes have NOT been reversed - compare the settings for 20BR LA71 in your latest screen-shot to the settings for this Leuchte-set in your first screenshot (they are different)
For both 20BR LA71 and 21BR RC8, do this: - Lichtfunktion B > Nicht akiv
- Lichtfunktion C >Nicht aktiv
- Dimming Direction CD > maximize
