I've been posting this question everywhere lol. There coding to change it? I have an airbag fault for 2nd igniter. Clock spring and swcm were changed. Canbus gateway had been changed previously. I read on a BMW forum that they can enter the airbag module (with their version of vcds) and deactivate the 2nd igniter).

Please post a complete SCAN of ALL the modules in your car with ALL error codes, so that I can see what you are experiencing. The clock spring is not always the culprit. With airbags, once a fault is stored, it doesn't clear easily (it's like blowing a fuse, you can't simply un-blow it).

Sorry the late response. I don't seem to get notifications. Looks like replacing the airbag module might be the remedy. One from a single stage car likely 08+

You can't just buy ANY airbag module for your MK5. They have so many variations of the same module available. I'd suggest you order it by VIN or PR-code.
I might be able to identify it for you if you provided your VIN

I'll check the VIN but I don't think that'll work being that the car came with the dual stage airbag and I'm trying to install a single stage one. That's why I'm considering an 08+ mk5 module because they came with single stage..

That's why I'm considering an 08+ mk5 module because they came with single stage.. My MK5 GTI module is "1K0909605T" if you want to risk trying that one. You can't buy it new, anymore. This part hasn't been superseded by any other part number.
