Dear Don,
I finally managed to install the new outer EU tail ligths. I need your support to activate turning light on it. As you know now I have turning light only in the inner part.
This is my last request and after this I will be able to show the car for inspection to authorities.
I really appreciate your support.
Kind regards, Yaroslav

yaroslav : hmm..........since our first discussion, I have never understood how you were going to operate the turn signal on the outer tail-light fittings on this car! Think about how the lamps on the tail-lights on Yankee cars work compared to EU cars. There are more rear lamps on an EU car because EU cars have separate turn-signal lamps (whereas Yankee cars use the brake lights also for turn-signal lamps). This means that the wiring loom from the central electrics module to the tail lights on EU cars have more wires than on a Yankee car. I still don't know how the complete package works on this tail-light retrofit - but if you have simply plugged the new EU style outer taillight fitting into the existing US factory loom on this car - there won't be sufficient wires to drive the separate turn-signal lamps (I think) So, this final problem needs to be fixed by running extra wires - it can't be fixed by coding changes (I think) Don

Thanks, Don! What is the assumption for the retrofit function of the OBD11? I attach photo of the option? What modifications do they assume? For the extra wire do you mean from the central module? What about this guys who are offering adapters for the US cars, which should be sufficient to activate the dynamic amber light? Attachments:

Well, my assumption without looking at the adapter's wiring would be - they simply duplicate one of the wires. Apps that are in the Obd11 could have been created in cooperation with adapter manufacturer. So adapter is a must before applying app (or connecting one additional wire from module to a lamp).

Ok, now I'm thinking in terms of adaptations in the module it is gonna be totally different changes depending on whether you added wire or duplicated using adapter.

I do not know how a duplicating a wire would work, but on the adapter which I have there are 5 wires on the in and out sides. may be the trick is with the pins?
Anyway this adapter is not working for Sportback.
If we are speaking about an additional wire is there any info how to do it and where to plug it on central model?

dv52 (Australia) Hi, I hope you are doing well! I noticed that my turn signals overwrite brake signals when active and decided to fix this, because when both turn signals are active (Hazard warning lights) brake light is not visible (lamps are off). So I decided to doublecheck your recommended adaptation parameters and noticed that I missed changes for braking lights. So I've done that and it became a Christmas tree lights xD Turn signal is now handled by both turn\taillights and brake lights. Each of them is in opposite phase, turn in Hellphase and brake in Dunkelphase. So I had to remove all the rest of functions except for A. Now brake light is fully independent from turn signals and can be active at the same time turn signal is active. I went through all combinations of lights I come up with but everything works as expected. I'm still wondering why brake lamps had so much functions attached\subscribed to it? I had to remove B,G,E,C functions (set to "nicht aktiv"). It feels a bit scary to be honest. Technical question, are those functions are subscription based? Like if I choose some function from the list, for example "Blinken links Hellphase" for Lichtfunction A - does that simply mean I subscribed current lamp to "Blinken links Hellphase" event? And A,B,C,D... are just layers of event handlers that have priorities? Before any changes to brake lights: After suggested changes Brake-lights: Leuchte20BR LA71 and Leuchte21BR RC8: Lichtfunktion B > nicht aktiv Lichtfunktion G > nicht aktiv Dimming Direction GH > maximize With A function only assigned to brake signal (desired result):

hmm............... I don't understand why you had to "fix this, because when both turn signals are active (Hazard warning lights) brake light is not visible (lamps are off"
Yes, the brake light is not visible when the hazard warning lights are activated. This happens by design because the hazard warning lights are NOT meant to be operated while the car is driven!!
And in regard to your sentence: "I had to remove B,G,E,C functions (set to "nicht aktiv"). It feels a bit scary to be honest." - again, yes this is what I suggested. On "Yankee" model cars, the Brake light operates as both the Brake function AND the Turn-signal. If you look at your original back-up file - you will see that Lichtfunktion A has the Brake function. The rest of the Lichtfunktion channel values are either factory set to "not active", or they have the Leuchte-commands for the turn-signal function. So obviously these MUST be set to "not active" if you want the lamps to NOT operate as turn-signal!!
As for your "technical question" - the answer is NO. Putting a leuchte-command on ANY of the 8 x Lichtfunktion channels will apply that lighting function to the lamp. So a lamp can have up to 8 x different lighting functions. The importance of a particular Lichtfunktion channel happens when there is a conflict between lighting functions. In these cases (i.e. when there is a clash between lighting functions), the priority is A<B<C<D........H

Thanks for the explanation! Clear!
By our laws you can use hazard lights while driving, in some specific cases you have to use them on the go. For example when you car is towed, having hazard lights on is mandatory. And for the safety I still need car behind me to see when I'm braking.

b4m: hi. Audi Q7 4M has a MLB-evo platform build - whereas the cars in this part of the forum use a MQB platform. Maybe ask your question again in the Q7 forum? Don

pilmia : Hi - post-up screenshots of Leuchte20BR LA71. To be clear - I need to see the values on ALL 19 x adaptation channels for the Leuchte-set in your screenshots
