I think it's this, but there must be another way? I don't fancy changing country to Germany. Door chime drives me nuts... I have a lot of access gates etc. that require in and out... door chime every time is uncessary.
Change the country code to Germany. To do this choose (using VCDS)
Instrument [17] -> Coding 07 -> Change 5th digit from left to 0 (zero) Orig code = 0023208 New code = 0023008
The above change will change the units from imperial to metric (km). To change this back, use your stalk to toggle through the units selection and choose miles once more (unless you like everything being in km).

Still need help on this, anyone?
How can you change the instrument cluster region to Germany within OBDEleven? I spent 2 hours going through menu's checking and double checking. All I could find was language, but that doesn't change the region, only the language, which is something you can do in regular MMI.
The "fix" is to change the region of the dash so that it see's the passenger door as the one to activate the chime (but surely there must be a better way). So in the case of a UK car, with steering wheel on right, changing to Germany means that when the driver opens the driver door, the chime won't sound as the dash thinks they opened the passenger door. Probably a better way but this has been what's out there, although instructions are not working due to missing piece.
The instructions that were linked to show this, but it's missing the byte:
Instrument [17] -> Coding 07 (adapation) -> In OBDEleven, there is no prepopulated menu item for region, so go to manual coding... Missing from the linked instruction - which byte needs to be accessed for the next steps? Change 5th digit from left to 0 (zero) Orig code = 0023208 New code = 0023008

Saw this on a TT site. Why does the menu on OBDEleven not show "Ignition active message". What's another way to access this?
Disable the open door sound while the engine on Unit 17 (done) Adaption Find in the menu: Ignition active message; actuator Change to "No display"

Ok this sound is getting super frustrating, especially when working on the car. I will pay someone through paypal (seriously) if they can come up with a fix. Please? This is really driving me nuts. When working on the car it's a realy pain, but also in regular use... getting out of the car to open access gates, getting out to let passengers out / get things etc. I know it can be muted by pushing the scroll wheel on the steering wheel but there's a delay so you have sit and wait a moment each time, plus I'd just really love it to not do it. Thanks to whomever can save mine and others sanity.

Just hit one of the arrow keys on the steering wheel and the chime stops

Everything is done by module 46
Go to (46 Comfort Systems), first in adaptation, Channel 98, Change the 1 to 0.
Then, again module (46 Comfort System), Extended Coding, In Byte 15 set bits 0 and 3.
this should work. you're welcome
