Hi All I recently purchased a MK7 GTI and OBDEleven and have been having a blast with all of the tweaks especially the lighting channels. As a tech and car enthusiast this is the most flexibility I’ve ever had in modding a cars electronics. DV52’s PDF has been extremely helpful in explaining the logic.
I’ve hit a snag with a tweak I’m working on and can’t seem to figure out the reasoning. This is on a US spec 2016 lighting package car. I’ve installed an OEM euro switch.
Right now my LED DRLs are setup as follows:
3SL VRB21
Lichtfunkion A3 Tagfahrlicht
Lichtfunkion B3 nicht aktiv
Dimmwert AB3 100
lichtansteuerung HD AB3 always
lichtfunkion C3 Standlicht allgemein (Schlusslicht, Positionslicht, Begrenzungslicht)
lichtfunkion D3 Parklicht rechts
Dimmwert CD3 45
Dimming Directrion CD3 Maximize
lichtfunktion E3 Blinken rechts aktiv (beide phasen)
lichtfunktion F3 nicht aktiv
Dimmwert EF3 26
Dimming direction EF3 Minimize
Lichtfunktion G3 Abblendlicht rechts
lichtfunktion H3 Nicht aktiv
Dimmwert GH3 26
Dimming direction GH3 Minimize
This allows:
Full LED DRL brightness normally.
45% brightness when my Parking lights and fogs are on.
26% brightness when signaling
26% brightness at all times when the low beams are on. No dimming for signaling.
My unexpected results are:
moving the switch to parking lights without fogs does not dim the DRLs to 45% brightness.
Signaling with my lights off completely turns off the DRL and does not dim it to 26%
I was able to fix the second unexpected result by changing Leuchte5 TFL RB32 Dimmwert CD5 and Leuchte4TFL LB4 Dimmwert CD4 to 26. So it seems that both the TFL and SL channels have some effect on controlling the LED DRLs. I then tried changing Luchte4TFL LB4 Dimmwert EF 4 to 45 from 127, but this still did not dim the LEDs in the parking light without fog switch position. My guess is that it has something to do with switching on my fog lights as this also changes my gauge cluster backlighting to night mode (brighter in lower lighting). Just wanted to post this up for more data points and to see if anyone had ideas as to how the TFL and SL lighting channels interact.
