Ok so in the state of Illinois and basically every single state in America you can not remove your catalytic converter. When going to get your car checked for emissions where I live, they stick a device into the same slot we stick our scan tool in to check for faults. If they find anything wrong with the o2 sensor they fail me and I can not get my license re registered. My question is this and is very basic but I have not been able to find it online.
Once i remove my catalytic converter and go into obdeleven and clear out the code that yells at you for not having a cat, will the emissions people be able to see that code still in the system?
Can someone explain to me if it's that simple or are there other stuff I have to know or do before I can sneak past them.
Thank You

Short answer: You can't Long answer: Clearing the error does not help at all - as this is continously checked by the ECU and the whole Software is engineered specifically to your exhaust system - so there is no known coding or something for this. Speaking for German testing procedures: They are also able to check for manipulated Software and probably Coding. Even with revoked software due to problematic emisssions, you will fail here. I could have heard that there is the possibility to install fake sensors. Don't they eye-inspect your exhaust hardware over there? Every good inspector here in Germany would easily recognize tampered parts in your exhaust
