Hi all, I noticed there is no availability for deactivating the starting vibration reduction in the braking menu, like you can do on gti 7. It's kinda vital cause I can't step on full throttle with esp off without seeing that annoying flashing led coming out on the dashboard. Also it limits the intervention of the vaq in 1st and 2nd gear making it unnecessary on twisty road. What the hell did they make it if I can just benefit from it from 3rd gear up?
Anyone willing to code?

Yea, that's strange. My car doesn't have several of the options that yours is showing. I'll take a look through my options this afternoon and see if I might be able to help at all. What trim and transmission do you have? Also what market?

European market, gti pp as considered in the US (vaq, bigger brakes), dsg. Yea, that's strange. My car doesn't have several of the options that yours is showing. In that case I'm probably of no help. I didnt take a screenshot, but my car has the option where your "Seat belt buckle scan" is

I also have a 2018 R which does not have the "starting vibration" setting either. As far as I read, all 2018 cars made after a certain date have some changes in the computer, and don't have this setting.
I wonder if a future update of OBD11 can "find" it, or is it a lost cause?

Good friend of mine just picked up an '18, build date 6/18, and his options are different than my old 18, build date 11/17

it's called "Rough Road optimization" I guess.

NO is a different paramenter, adaption "Starting vibration reduction" is simple no more present in 2019/2020 ABS modules.

Yup, I have a 2018 facelift model (built in 2017) and my ABS 03 module has both Starting Vibration Reduction and Rough Road optimization. Some people on golfmk7.com said that disabling rough road makes a difference but it could be a placebo effect too. I haven’t tried it.

Yep - folks mess with these settings and have no substantiated basis for what they actually do. May work to help reduce the power cut due to excessive wheel spin but who knows without repeated quantitative testing either with logging (not sure what you log) or just 60' times etc.

Agree. Though actually recording data with OBDeleven specifically, is tough and when I’ve tried it it’s been unreliable (e.g. cutting out randomly). So I can’t blame people too much I guess lol. I never did any data collection on Startting vibration reduction but (I think) I can feel the difference. Wheel hop happens with it on or off, so may as well leave it off 🤷♂️.
Recently I thought disabling “Engine drag torque control” would get rid of rev hang, and I had a placebo moment where I thought it was working, but then realized the behavior was exactly the same after all.

Can confirm power cuts are not so strong but still present.
I had a 2014 gti, had no issues what so ever with esp off had no intervention from the car to remove wheel hop or spinning. with my 2018 gti I just can't get the same effect, there is still a traction light popping up.
Set esp off rough road - deactivated straight ahead brake stabilization - deactivated
Anyone got any other tips we can try, it's super annoying got a stage 3 setup but first and second gear is basically useless as power is still being cut...

2024 bump to ask if the "rough road" setting reduces power cutting on a 2018 Golf R manual. I am not asking about wheel hop, as in 1st and 2nd gear, dry conditions, there isn't enough power to spin the wheel without a clutch drop. Not sure if the thread on golfmk7 is relevant due to all the people with FWD GTIs.
